Per VQ, had a HUGE game last night. His coach, George Quarles, called it the best of his career. He had multiple TFLs and QB hurries. Stripling and Gillespie were in attendance. Even some current players.... Coleman Thomas, Josh Smith, Cortez McDowell, and even a handful of others.
Here's a quote from Quarles after Dylan's performance last night.
"He made a lot of tackles. Started off the game with a sack. He was everywhere," Quarles said. "Dylan's best days are ahead of him, I promise. He's got to just learn to turn it loose and play, but he's such a great team guy that I think it inhibits his play sometimes. He's a bell cow for us, he's our leader. I thought tonight was a great night for him to show off."
Jackson has the upside to play DE, DT, or OT depending on how he fills out.
He probably won't be expected to contribute at any of those positions as a freshman.
None of these are bad things.
CBJ recruited him as a TE. He left CM after one year because he did not like the direction the program was heading. He never tried to convert JJ one time.
JJ Watt: There was a point when I was asked to move to offensive tackle, but I am not the type of guy who is going to tell the coach anything I am not going to tell them to do what I want. So, yes it is true I was approached to move to tackle. But in all honesty it wasnt so much the move to tackle as it was my desire to move closer to home. I also wanted to go to a place that would let me play defensive end and I felt like Wisconsin presented me with the best opportunity to do that. Just the way the offense was working out there at CMU, there wasnt really any opportunities for me to grow as a player. I had to do what was best for me. And no, I was never approached to play defense end by CMU.
I know. It's quite clear JJ was a TE, was getting too big to play TE and was asked to move to OT. Instead he wanted to play DE so he walked on at a bigger school and earned his fame the hard way. I don't see what's hard to understand about thisI don't see how you are claiming a win on this one when the article you cite doesn't make the point you initially claimed which was that JJ was on D and Butch wanted to convert him to OT.
You said Butch shouldn't convert DEs to OTs. He didn't do that with JJ.Nothing to try and understand. He said JJ was never asked to change position, JJ said he was. What's so hard to understand about that?
Interview on 104.5. Said he will play anywhere the coaches need him. Also said if they want him to red shirt, he'll do that. He just wants to be on the team and help anyway possible. Definitely bleeds orange
What happens to this young man if Taylor commits? Hate to lose one who bought into "the plan" so early.
