'15 TN DE Dylan Jackson (former UT commit)

Dylan Jackson, if a DL would probably be SDE. Taylor, pending he commits, would have zero effect on Jackson.

Why are people even talking about this?

If anything, it would affect Ford.

And Jackson probably does end up on the OL especially if we don't get any other OL this class. OL is in worse shape than the DL is. Simple fact of the matter.

At first I wanted him to stay at DE, but I'm starting to like the idea of him moving to offense. In some recent pictures of him, he had to be pushing 270. We look to be pretty set at DE in the future regardless of what side he plays on.

First, Butch won't drop a kid from the best program in East TN. Second, that LSU offer shows what kind of player DJ is. He's a 3 down DE or a future OT. His spot will be here if he wants it. I think he ends up at OT with Taylor, Ford, and Butcher in the fold.

All of this.

Alright. Time to eat some crow.

I need to apologize to Roustabout. I was pretty belligerent about my belief that Jackson would be a DE at the next level, but after the recent addition to our of DLine class it is becoming increasingly clear that Dylan Jackson is going to a OT spot. I don't like it at all, but I trust Butch.

This will the great debate until fall camp

I can't see Jackson taking up a DE spot.

If he is not capable of being a OT, then he should be trimmed fat with the numbers rising.

Don't need to trim him. Maybe someone else because he is better than many of the other commits, regardless of which position he plays.

So has Dylan mentioned in interviews that the coaches may want him on the OL or is this all speculation? Just curious.

I know this...You guys that think Butch jones is going to ditch his offensive system and HIS OC that has worked pretty well for him everywhere he's been...are sol.

I hope he's not as stubborn as you think, because his loyalty to this offensive staff could be his downfall, and the masses will turn quickly after many more offensive performances like today, like it or not. The staff and system may have worked everywhere he's been, but the SEC is another animal. Mississippi St., Kentucky, Ole Miss all have more imaginitive offenses than we do. Bland and vanilla is fine if you are scoring. It won't be well-received when you get 6 points out of 3 trips to the red zone.

It pains me to admit any of that because I like the foundation Butch is laying, but the defense deserved better than what the offense gave today, and that is becoming a trend unfortunately. It has to fall on the offensive staff for being this poorly prepared, and not having the offense any more prepared 5 games in.

What happens if it all keeps going down this path? What happens if they are 3-6 heading into the Mizzou game, which is likely? What happens if no bowl game after this season? Think there won't be changes after he promised everybody a bowl game? The man has too much to lose to stay married to ineffective assistant coaches and a bad offensive scheme.

While I agree with your first statement about a bland and vanilla offense right now, it can't be easy to have a creative playbook with an OLine that is struggling like ours is. I thought for sure those Wildcat calls would have been effective were it not for miscommunication and false start penalties. Would really love to see some rearranging on the offensive front at this point. Move Kerbyson back to right guard, get Kendrick in at left tackle, get Thomas out and Blair in over there in the right tackle spot. There is just so much obvious discomfort. I'd rather run guys who are more physically suited to play their positions and maybe make a mistake than get beat every single down because guys simply aren't physically able to keep up with the boys they are defending against. Just my two cents. TIFWIW (that ain't much).

There just doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to our offensive identity. Against OU and UGA we were successful running the delayed draw to Hurd, yet we didn't attempt it one time today. We didn't attempt hardly anything downfield between the 20s to keep the DBs honest until we had to on the last drive.

I do agree the line play is a legitimate excuse and a major hamstring right now though. 6 sacks and no run blocking make it difficult to succeed.

Alright, crucifixion time. Talked to a girl at the game tonight that has had seats behind me for years about Dylan Jackson. She mentioned that the coaching staff talked to Dylan about playing offensive line and that mama Jackson was extremely unhappy. Stated mama Jackson saying her boy was a defensive end and wasn't playing OLINE. They would go elsewhere before that happened. I'm no insider and am really inebriated right now due to the crap game I sat through today, so go play in traffic if you don't like the info. Here's to downing a lot of advil soon to avoid hangover and hopefully not damaging my kidneys.

I think it's time to play Austin sanders and weisman and see if they are any better. Or maybe flip Marcus Jackson to RG and Robertson to LG

Hope it's not true, but I believe this 100%.

Honestly, who gives a damn what Mama Jackson thinks? If this staff wants Jackson as an OL, then he's an OL. If he doesn't like that, he's free to go somewhere that promises him something else. If he's as good as some of you are saying, he can make a boatload of cash as a LT in the NFL. If Mama Jackson doesn't like that, she's off her rocker.

And no, I'm not trying to insult anyone, just being brutally honest. A recruit (or his parents) shouldn't try to hold the coaching staff ransom. The coaching staff's first priority should always be the team. If it's not best for the team, don't do it.

Just do the bait and switch like we did with Robertson and other guys. I think Dylan won't mind at that point.
