'15 TN DE Dylan Jackson (former UT commit)

Before people say it's ok if we lose him, make sure you fully realize that this kid is on his way to being a 6'6" DE playing at 270 pounds with the ability to run like a wild man on laced cocaine :aggressive:

You just described JJ Watt bruh.

I wonder what the rules are about CBJ getting former players to make a "courtesy call". This kid reminds me of Eric Fisher a lot. CBJ was the only one to recruit him basically, and he turned him into an OT and then he ends up the #1 pick in the draft. Yes he has potential at DE, but he has CRAZY potential if he wanted to switch to OT. But you have to respect the kid's wishes and he doesn't want to switch.

This morning, Swain was discussing the Maryville/Fulton game this week. He was mentioning the players that are UT or D1 prospects. When he got to Jackson, he said that he's committed to UT but has been taking visits, and then said, "he better be careful...".

Ya I'm sure you followed Eric fishers recruitment realllly closely too

according to the VQ, the coaching staff has pretty much stopped recruiting Jackson.

Reasonable decision IMO. With him taking visits and reasonable replacements available, the staff filling that spot makes sense.

I think it came down to Dylan was just not interested in moving to the OL. Just the chance of that being a possibility had him looking elsewhere. I can't say that I blame him. He will be a very good DE in college. Best of luck to the kid.

Why? Why must we insist on letting the best D1 prospects in our own backyard go elsewhere?

I admit I don't like it either. I just don't think the kid wanted to switch positions. Can't help but laugh a bit at the thought that he can't play DE at UT, but can at LSU. I bet he turns into a good one in death valley. JMO

Whose to say LSU doesn't plan on switching him too but are just telling him what he wants to hear? Happens all the time. Maybe Butch is just being honest with him.

Why am I not saying that? Because there has been zero mention of it. If Dylan thought that was the plan at LSU, he would not be considering them. Do I think he asked that coaching staff a direct question about him playing at DE if he chose LSU? Of course. With UT at least considering moving him to OL, I have no doubt the kid is being very up front with other schools about his wanting to stay on defense. I suppose a school could lie, but I'd guess Dylan and his family are asking direct questions to make sure staffs are on the up and up. Seems they like what LSU has to say. Chavis being his recruiter looks to have his trust he'll play on defense.

UK held into Cobb's commitment because they promised him he would be a QB. Recruiting is what it is. Once on campus coaches will do what is best for the program. And consequently, what is best for the player too even if they don't want to see it. Cobb would be working a 9-5 right now if he stayed at QB.
