Stanford runs the 3-4, so he probably stays at end if he goes there, though it wouldn't be quite the same position.

The LSU coaches were in to see him yesterday or today with Les Miles, Chavis, etc. We will see how that plays out, Tennessee still has their in-home and official visit left with him. That is what I have been hearing on my end.

I extremely disagree with people suggesting he is an offensive lineman.

The thing is, we don't need another DE that bad right now. We are anorexic at OT. The League backs up the Brinks trucks for those guys. Maybe the kid has always wanted to be Lawrence Taylor, and if he is, then great, but if he ain't, why not give OL a try? It made Charles Mcwhatever a first rounder back in the day.

If the kids heart is not in it, probably better to focus on one who is. Like Jason Carr. Some kids just are not interested in a move like that. For every 1 that works out, I'd bet there are a lot more who don't.

I'd be for whatever gives me the most opportunity to be on the field wuppin somebodys ass. This kid is an above average DE, but who is LSU kidding. There is no way this kid beats out the DL studs LSU brings in every dang year. I hate LSU, but their DL is almost always stacked like cordwood with extremely athletic, huge men.

Classic VN exaggeration rumor....If anybody here thinks DJ is as fast, agile, or as athletic as Van Jefferson. You are a complete fool. People who were at the game have already explained in great detail what happened. You left out the part where the poster said DJ was doggin it on a lot of plays. If that is true..DJ can forget beating out high motor guys like Butcher and Ford at DE. Much less anybody already on the team. On the other hand, maybe Jackson was hurt or sick or the poster is just lying. Who knows unless they were at the game or watched it.

Jason Witten wanted to play DE. CPF told him his future was at TE, but he gave the kid a shot at DE, anyway. Witten was very disappointed when moved to TE. Now he's likely a Hall of Fame TE.

Randall Cobb was determined to play QB in college. CPF was honest with him, said he'd get a chance at QB, but his future was at WR and returning kicks. Cobb went to UK, where he was promised he'd play QB. After a token shot at QB, they moved him to WR and had him returning punts, where he excelled. He's now a star WR in the NFL - just like CPF told him.

Fred Weary came here wanting to play DL. The coaches gave him a shot, then moved him to OL, where he had a nice NFL career.


The moral? 25% of college football players end up playing a different position than they played in high school. Sometimes, a person who's been coaching longer than you've been alive knows a little more than you do about which position you should play.

Kid has the ability to play at both positions.

Very athletic.

He has the long arms, quick feet, and great frame, to be a great OT. All those together is rare.

I'll take him. Kid will be a major contributor whichever side of the ball he is on.

Pretty much the way I feel about it. Good post. I just hope DJ doesn't go anywhere else.
