'15 TN DE Dylan Jackson (former UT commit)

I want that kind of player as well. I doubt the kid is making demands, just stating his preference. Butch will cut him loose if they are not on the same page.

I believe DJ is serious about wanting to play DE in college and his parents are serious about him playing DE too.

I believe so too. I just think with his frame, it doesn't matter how seriously they want him to play DE. He looks like he could easily gain 40 pounds.

Right now he's looking at a guy like jj watt and thinking "that's me!" but in all reality jj watt is much more the exception to the rule rather than the rule.

I think the majority of people can tell by watching his film he is a good not great athlete at DE but that same ability at LT could take him well beyond college.

I don't love comparisons but he reminds me of Aaron Douglas, size, athleticism wise

I really wish Jackson would go all-in as an OT. I think he's Aaron Douglas 2.0. He will get it when he goes from East TN HS football to SEC.

JMO but I think if he goes to Stanford he can most likely stay at the DE position. If he goes to LSU he'll end up on the O-Line after his RS year, maybe in his 2nd year. If he comes to Tennessee it will probably be the same thing as LSU. If he wants to play in the NFL his best chance will be on the O-Line.
I really believe people are telling him that his future in the NFL will be on the O-Line but family and a few friends are making him believe he can play DE. I just don't think he's fast or quick enough. The need for fast and quick DE's in the NFL is recognized by every team in the league.

That's where I am with it. Good, but not explosive. Fine for college, but not the pros. The inner circle needs to let it go and let his natural ability and size determine his position. Go ahead and give it a run at DE and see where he stacks up. But I agree with many on here, if he wants to make it to the NFL it is probably at OT. By all appearances Douglas 2.0 or Jason Carr, which may be in his inner circle's minds as well. They may be wanting to avoid what could happen before it even has a chance of happening (overthink it).

But if they want to watch him play, I hope they have plenty of money and time on their hands. They can also forget about helping him - he will be on his own and in an environment that will change the way he thinks and lives. That can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on viewpoint.

Watching Dylan right now in the State Championship game and he's showing me that he could certainly play on the defensive side of the ball at the next level. He's having a great game so far.

Yeah I think so too, either way we could use his talent, size and athleticism!

That's strange because to me he looks like an offensive tackle playing defense (no really he's been in on a few plays but he looks big and slow for a defensive end to my admittedly ignorant eyes).

You must have missed the play where he was able to tackle Van Jefferson for a loss on that jet sweep. He's very quick for his size.

I did see that - from what I remember it looked like he had stopped and was going to get faked out and another Maryville player pushed him towards Jefferson. I remember seeing him jogging on the backside of plays a lot which didn't impress me much. This is the 1st Maryville game I've watched so I'm forming no opinion or meaning no disrespect.

LSU is a major player with Jackson so it wouldn't surprise me if he flipped, but right now I don't know that it will happen. The LSU coaches were in to see him yesterday or today with Les Miles, Chavis, etc. We will see how that plays out, Tennessee still has their in-home and official visit left with him. It's just that time of the year.
