'15 TN DT/OL Zach Stewart (UT Signee 2/4/15)

We get it, you don't like him.

Don't know the kid actually just listened to a interview on a local sports show and is a very well spoken respectful kid sounds like a fine young man. It's obvious his parents raised a great young man. And I have said it before I hope he ends up a all American for us. Just personally wasn't impressed but what do I know I thought B.J Coleman was the best high school qb I ever saw.

David Cutcliffe wanted him, so you're not in bad company. GB Packers coach said he had a lot of talent. I saw him play twice in high school, and he was one of the best QB's I've ever seen in high school, too. I'm guessing he could not adapt to the speed of the game in the NFL, or perhaps its complexity. Most college QB's don't make it there.

I have seen numerous other UT recruits from the past play in high school, and I had a strong feeling that some of them were overrated, and it turned out to be true. I also had a feeling some were underrated, and that often turned out to be true, also.

Saw Tyler Clabo play at Farragut, and I thought "why isn't UT all over this kid?"

Still, I have been wrong sometimes about a player that I've seen. People who get paid big money are sometimes wrong, too.

I haven't seen Stewart play, so I offer no opinion in his case, except I trust the coaches to get a lot more right than wrong.

I agree I totally trust the coaches opinion. If they think he is worth it that he is worth it. So far they seem to be pretty spot on with there assessments of players.

I think they have been spot on when recruiting under the radar guys at CB, LB (JRM), and OG. OT is still a concern but Thomas should hold his own soon at RT. I think this staff has a plan and a protype player they want at each position. Their plan seams to be working well as of now. We do need to land a few more solid LT prospects, but other then that we are killing it. So, with that said, I think Stewart has to be someone to be excited about because this staff seams to know how to find really solid G prospects to fit their schemes.

All you need too know about him is this. He's in state and they offered him almost a year early. He's been too one camp and completely dominated and he benches 400+ as a high school senior.

Enough said.

I'm not saying this kid won't live up to his potential but you need to see the size of the kids he is going against. I bet some of the lineman he faces are hardly over 200lbs. I played in Morgan County I know. Some of the lineman he faces are probably 5'10 and about 225-250 and none have every had a D1 offer. Put it this way if you look up just about any team he has played this year you probably won't find one kid with a D1 or even D2 or D3 or probably a community college offer. Just sayin. Hammer me I don't care i know the talent this kid sees on a weekly basis.

I think that they played Catholic earlier this year, but I do agree that the level of size and competition he faces game in and game out is not very good.

Do you really think his offer was based solely on what he's done in HS play? The caliber of competition he faces week in and week out has nothing to do with the kind of player he is.

Stewart's excelled in every combine he's participated in against linemen much bigger & stronger than the ones he faces at Coalfield, and he has all the measurables you want in a future SEC offensive lineman.

He's so good look at all the offers he has

Did he steal your girlfriend?

He is ranked highly because of his work at the camps. He was killing people last year. And these were kids from all over the country. Stewart is the real deal.

Now go back to class.

Maybe you can avoid looking at his side of the line when he's dominating for us? :)

O-line and D-line are the hardest positions to evaluate IMO. Just about every school in the country has at least 1 or 2 lineman on their sideline that they would consider a bust. They are usually bigger and stronger than their competition in high school, so a lot is taken from their camp performances. He seems to have done fine in camps. I am glad we are going to get him, but time will tell.

Every kid could possibly not work out but there is no reason to think that this kid has any less of a chance to be a contributor as anyone else. I personally think that if he stays healthy he can come in and redshirt and be a solid lineman for us for 3 or 4 years.

The fact that all the camps he attended he really shined against top flight competition, according to reports, is enough to let you know he can play, IMO.

Just because this kid plays single A ball doesn't mean he is not any good, it just mean his competition isn't great on a week to week basis. At single A, he should be dominating which according to his stats he is. Remember Eddie Moore, Heath Shuler, and Carl Pickens all came from single A schools.
