'15 TN OL Riley Lovingood (UT Signee, 2/4/15)

wish wed not used a schollie and could have walked on. juss sayin what everyones thinkin.
Ehh. I kind if feel the same way but I don't mind it either. If this kid comes in and starts year 2 we'd have to put him on scholly anyways and that'd take up a spot in a recruiting class anyways. If he comes in and redshirts behind Matt Giampapa for his RS Sr year, and then Riley starts as a RS Fr in 2016 for four years, I'm 100% fine with this.

Ron: are you confident we finish with a great class? Where do you see us ending up in the rankings? How dependent is our '15 recruiting on us having a decent season (7-8 wins)?
The '14 class is a tough act to follow.

I'll hang up and listen.

Programs are starting to show they are willing to offer top LS's a scholarship to secure one. Very good chance had UT tried to play the walk-on card with Riley another school would have offered a scholarship down the line(see Horky and ou) and we would have lost him. Better to show the kid he is a priority early on.

It will be a smaller class, 20-25, but we should finish top 10 and maybe top 5 if things go really well this fall. A bowl game is a MUST this year. No bowl game and the '15 and '16 classes will suffer greatly. 7-8 wins would guarantee another great class in '15. I think we'll win 7+ this year and recruiting will get even better. JMO

Sorry for the bump....

Do long snappers also play regular OLine? Will he be considered a potential center or guard?

Way to small and really doesn't have the frame to add a lot more weight, he will just be a longsnapper.

And honestly, if he were big enough to be a lineman it could be a hindrance in punt coverage. You'd rather not have to rely on your deepsnapper to make a lot of tackles, but I'd rather have a 235-250 lb kid running down the field trying to make a tackle or slow a returner down than a 300 pounder.

I was going through Rivals and saw where this kid had committed.

His dad (Jeff) is the Youth leader and LHB and is a MAJOR TN fan.

This is pretty cool...

That's two kids from Hendersonville taken in back to back years.

I really hope he gets to hang on to his scholarship.

I hope so to. Riley seems like a good kid. He'll be successful where ever he goes. We gotta replace Giampapa though.

As great as the '14 class is, I do wonder if it's somewhat skewed considering how much CBJ benefited from having so many good in state and legacy players in this one class. The 2015 class won't have that advantage. It'll be interesting to see if CBJ and staff can repeat their success. I do agree with you though. A LOT is riding on how we do this year on the field and I believe our '15 class will go as our season goes. Getting to a bowl game is crucial.

There has been elite talent at the top the last few cycles in the state of Tennessee. We had simply failed to land any of it...

Butch Jones is changing that.
