'15 TN TE Jackson Harris

Looks to me like they don't plan on it. Obviously there is something about him they don't like. Seems very strange to me.

Yeah, I can't figure this one out at all. He has almost exactly the same measurables as Ethan Wolf. We're not exactly deep at TE right now and considering his in-state status, I'd think this offer would be a no-brainer. I'm sure he's wondering why he hasn't gotten one yet.

I trust the staff, though.

The instate thing is what bothers me the most. When there are top quality, highly rated kids who everyone else seems to want, I'd prefer to see us keep them instate and in Orange.

Who knows. Maybe the staff felt after talking with the kid he was set on going out of state. Maybe no offer came because they did not see him as considering UT in the end.

how many tight ends currently have offers? The kid out of CT and who else?

Edit: Gragg and Hentges

I'm with you, man. I assume they must have their reasons though, and I trust their instate recruiting chops after last cycle.

If someone here has a VQ sub and wouldn't mind asking one of the mods what in the dickens is going on with Harris and UT, I think that would be something many would be very interested in knowing.

Jackson Harris is one of seven new 4 stars just outside the Top 250 on Rivals.

For Harris, who plays in a run-heavy offense where he's required to be an excellent blocker, it was about showing what he could do in the passing game. That's exactly what he did at the Under Armour Combine.

"Jackson is a guy who just keeps getting better every we time we see him," Wommack said. "He was really in the mix for a spot in the 250 and if he keeps showing out against the top competition and getting bigger and stronger, it's going to be hard to deny him that spot. He's a legit 6-foot-5, 240 pounds and still has another year to develop before moving onto the next level."

We are in on the best tight ends in the country. Butch and his staff evaluate a lot of film and they are higher on some other guys, whether we like it or not.

Isn't this the kid who grew up a UF fan? It seems like he is definitely down the list at TE considering all the others they've offered at this point. I know they love Clark but I think he is a longshot, probably ND or OSU bound. Maybe they feel really good about one of the other TE's they've offered, although I cant pinpoint who it could be.

More players from TN? I think with Butch we will recruit the state the way it should, but a team full of homegrown talent won't cut it in the SEC. We've gotta go get the best players possible, no matter where they are from.

Agreed, but the odds are a little in our favor that the in-state commits will sign, while out of state players are more inclined to be poached.

After watching this young man's highlights for the first time, my concerns are:

Is his grades good?

Is his character good?

I only ask, because I know nothing about him. His highlights leave no doubt that he is a take. He is a difference maker, and seems to have all the tools you need in a TE. Most impressive to me is he hits like a freight train. If the Vols are fortunate over the next few years in getting kids like this, they will be selling TE University T-Shirts.

This kid must have really progressed since my son's team played them last year. He wasn't very good to be honest. He stood out because of his size but honestly nothing else made you say "Wow This kid is a SEC caliber player." My younger son moves up as my other son moves on to college so I'll get to see him again this year. It will be interesting to see his progress.

110% yes to both those questions.

They run the ball a lot so that could be why his play didn't stick out. And I think a couple of Rivals, 247, or Scout guys have said they saw a big improvement over the last couple of years.

Central runs the same plays so much the players get tired of it 😔 they fired their offensive coordinator during this last season

So now he's #9 TE on rivals with the latest rankings and #11 on 247. He's gonna be a huge tight end. I hope we offer.

Good to see someone on here with Boonshill as their location. Grew up just down the road, "Blakeville." Went to Unity and everything. How's Lincoln County doing now? I've only been back to a game once or twice since graduating in 08.
