'15 TN WR Van Jefferson

Ohio State. What a joke.

You see, Ohio State, here's the problem with this new playoff system:
You will have to actually play someone other than the Little Giants to get a shot at a title.

"Top247 rising senior wide receiver Van Jefferson of Ravenwood High School in Brentwood, Tenn., one of Tennessee’s top remaining targets in the 2015 class, made his much-anticipated visit to Ohio State last week, and it seems to have shifted some of the momentum in his recruitment back toward the Buckeyes. Multiple sources close to Jefferson’s recruitment said the Vols undoubtedly were in good shape with Jefferson following his visit to UT last month for its first “Orange Carpet Day,” but it now appears to be a neck-and-neck race between Tennessee and Ohio State. Sources close to the Vols even indicated Sunday that some of their optimism regarding Jefferson has started to fade coming off his visit to Ohio State.

The 6-foot-2.5, 172-pound Jefferson has discussed perhaps announcing his decision on his birthday, which is Saturday, and that remains at least an outside possibility. But a source close to his recruitment said Sunday that Jefferson and his family still are looking into scheduling another trip to Georgia soon, and if they decide to visit the Bulldogs again, he’s likely to postpone his decision until after his birthday. Regardless, Jefferson still is planning to announce his choice before the start of his season."

What site did this come from? Ohio State of Tennessee.

You have to consider the source. If it's that coach hired by OSU from the Ravenwood staff, it likely isn't credible.

I think if he chooses somewhere else, then that means Gibson will be our next WR pick up

Oh please don't start this....

This thread has been somewhat "clean" in regards to the VolNation Gibson-in-every-thread Cancer.

Also, people let the ups and downs of recruiting turn their emotions into a roller coaster. I haven't read this thread in a few days, come in and read a few pages of optimism, then one quote is posted and several people go and punch their dogs or call in sick to work because they can't control their stress-poops.

For me it's tough to stress over what could be the 6th, 8th, 10th, or 14th WR on the depth chart. Would love to see Van pick UT because he is an instate talent. If he does not choose the Vols, alright. I'd probably keep Bruce at slot and go after another CB. Have been thinking with the success CBJ has had with TX CBs lately, maybe Josh Butler should be one we push for.

hmmm I do think we need a second true WR in the class. If Jefferson goes to the beautiful state of Ohio, lets full press Lodge.

It came from the Tennessee VIProom on 247. It was posted about 2 hours ago.

I agree completely. I think he is a great, talented kid and I want him because he is from Tennessee. But at the same time, there are other positions on our roster that need more depth and talent at the moment. Either way, I'll be ecstatic if he commits. I just want Richmond and Tuttle.

not good then.

I wonder what kind of bs Meyer fed him and his family. Before this visit all signs pointed to UT and Van's father wasn't going to let him go to OSU. Can't let recruits in front of Meyer. He may be a lying POS but he's good.

Hubbs just said OSU has the momentum with Jefferson right now. It may be time to start looking at other receiver candidates. Dexter Neal could be one to watch.

Let's not freak out. I have seen these things play out for years. OSU is going to have more momentum because he just came back from there- that happens all of the time.

I have no info, but I believe he will be a Vol because of our relationships with the family, proximity, and recruiting other elite talent. If not, it's not like we are hurting at his position. JMO.

If we don't get Van, any chance we go after alvin harper Jr as a backup plan to the backup plan?

Say the staff, after recruiting some other top wr's more heavily for a few months, believes we don't have much of a shot with any of them...at that point, maybe we could go after harper as a potential gs or preferred walk-on. I would really like to have him at ut given his legacy status, and he likely has some desire to play here. He may not have the size, but I am guessing that he would be fundamentally sound as a wr being the son of NFL wr.

I know he doesn't have the height to be anything aside from a slot wr, which we likely already have in Bruce for the class of '15. And I know wr is a position where we have accumulated some depth, but I would like it if we were able to land another wr if Jefferson doesn't work out in our favor.

With all that said, I'm really hoping we get Van, but it looks to be far from a sure thing right now.

Ahhh...that's the spirit!!! Let's just give up!! Man...you would make a great coach.

There's a fine line between being optimistic and realistic. There is an even finer line between being optimistic and a complete moron.
