Reality is that Urban's been doing this since he took over at Florida...and WR's KEEP BUYING IT!...he always defaults to Percy Harvin because Harvin was technically a WR...but had a unique skill set that allowed him to flourish as a rusher in that centrific Meyer spread...5 * receivers who went to Florida and now flock to tOSU should expect to develop their downfield blocking skills... They're going to get a boatload of opportunities in that department.
If you will recall, we had a home-and-away series scheduled with Ohio State for 2018-2019, but they backed out of the agreement (Ohio State football: Series with Tennessee canceled | Buckeye Xtra Sports). The series was described as a "casualty of the Big Tens decision to add a ninth conference game starting in 2017. [At the same time, Ohio State also announced that it would play North Carolina in a home-and-home series. The Tar Heels will come to Columbus on Sept. 5, 2015. Ohio State will play in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Sept. 23, 2017."
We already play a big boy schedule. I don't mind paying a series with them. An annual game is ridiculous. Your argument is even more ridiculous. It's a top 5 schedule every year as it is
We play Bama every year. We do play a big boy schedule regardless... That's just ignorant.
This. TN will always have a Top 5 schedule nationally regardless of the OOC opponents. At some point, it becomes pure stupidity on the part of an athletic department to overload a schedule like this year's is. And what's crazy is I think this OU series was scheduled after or around 2009 when the program was already a mess.

Miami and Florida State were both door mat programs in the late 70's and early 80's. They were both playing soft schedules before but changed their scheduling to playing anyone, anywhere, and anytime. Talent began flocking to their programs.
Alabama has changed their scheduling philosophy to include an OOC headliner every year which has enhanced their recruiting. Back when they were struggling they played very few big names outside of the SEC.
The top talent in the country wants to play in headliner games. Ask Butch if he was able to get a kid's attention by talking about our upcoming game with OU, and what was their reaction when he brought up UTC, Utah State, and Arkansas State. If you are all concerned about the level of competition in the SEC then maybe we should apply to the OVC where our fans feel more comfortable.
So you want to add a top ten team annually when we can't beat top 40 teams. Makes sense. It's not about being a pu**. If you don't think we will have headliner games then you're not very intelligent.
You are thinking of the past. We don't lose to top 40 teams any more. Those days are over. Whatever you remember of the last 8 years... It's done. Adding Ohio state as an annual game would help and it would give us one more team to impose our will on. The talent we will have will beat anyone.
We do lose to top 40 teams. Where have you been the last 5 years. We beat a total of one top 25 team the last 3 years. I guess you can count that. It wouldn't help at all. Bama has done nothing of the sorts and it hasn't hurt them. Lsu has done nothing of the sorts and it hasn't hurt them. Oregon has done nothing of the sorts and it hasn't hurt them. Ole Miss has done nothing of the sorts... and it's helped them win more games. And their recruiting is better. So show me evidence where it will help to add another (at best) toss up game on the schedule. Our schedule is already top 5 in difficulty. Don't make it any harder to get back to where we need to be.
