'15 TN WR Van Jefferson

smoking a little dope. suspended for 4 games. suspension lifted just in time for the UT game. There was another db as well, don't remember who. Same as Darick. And I believe crowell failed more than one drug test. my last response on this.

Last response? Why are you giving up on me?

SIAP - Was just talking with a co-worker who is an Uga grad. What he had to say may explain why Van committed to the Dawgs...and explain how Uga came into the picture late.

Uga hired Tracy Rocker as DC. Rocker was coaching with the Titans and is the best friend of Shawn Jefferson.

I know some of you will say Van is a WR and Rocker will not be coaching him directly, but Rocker being dad's best friend may have been a huge factor in Van's decision, regardless.

That'd make sense if Pruitt wasn't their DC. Does Rocker coach a position?

Probably because he doesn't want to push a thread to the top that has nothing to do with Tennessee. My guess is if you wanted to take this discussion to the 'Around the NCAA' board he would be all for it. Or better yet, the Georgia message board, assuming one exists.

It does exist in their wee little practice facility. Both are on the same scale as compared to UT among other things. Small and lacking.

I have a hard time believing that. If Jefferson wanted to be a Vol he could have been. I have a hard time believing that this staff would turn down his commitment. From EVERYTHING that I've heard he really really wanted to be at UT, so that leaves me to believe that the depth chart would be an issue to him.

He is at Georgia because he doesn't think he'll be on the field much at UT IMHO.

I agree. If he really, really wanted to be at UT then he could have committed to us. There's nothing wrong with competition, it makes everyone better. I just can't see myself going to another school when I really wanted to go somewhere else. Granted, this is only my opinion and to each his own. He wants to see the field really early, but I just couldn't imagine not going to a school just because of competition.

The lack of PT argument makes no sense whatsoever to me. Look at the WR roster for 2016, which would be his sophomore year and someone convince me he wouldn't be getting a ton of PT by then? Malone, Williams, Smith and after that it's wide open. He'd easily be in the rotation by that time IMO, whereas you look at UGA and they already have 4 other WR commits in this class, at least two of which I'd say are definitely better prospects.

I agree no way TN turned him down. I think its obvious he picked UGA because that is where his mother wanted him to go.

He also said as many as 6 kids from middle TN not currently committed could end up being Vols. He wouldn't name names outside of Van because it could give an indication of who they may drop to make room, and that "this is going to happen with TN recruiting". Sorry LV.
