'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

The true freshman QB of college football is equal to the backup QB in the pros, everybody's favorite player...until they actually play.

Am I crazy in thinking that Dobbs showed some promise as a true freshman? I think he is a great match for what we want to do on offense personally.

Actually they can make huge impacts as FR this day and age. UT and GA are just 2 that have played several true FR QB's and they have stuck as starters fof most of their careers at the school..And QB's are way more prepared to play early this day and time with HS running similar offenses. And I haven't seen anything from Peterman or Dobbs that instills much confidence moving forward. There are true fr QB's starting all over college football and have the last few yrs. They will play whoever they feel can lead the team, be it a FR or Soph or whatever.

UT has had some luck with true freshman QBs, but I can think of very few QBs at major college programs that played well, or at all, as true freshman. Seems like exception. I'd rather go with an older QB next season.

UGA hasn't had one as long as Richt has been there. Tebow played sparingly behind Leak. Most guys that blow up are RS freshmen. At least all the guys I can come up with.

I would be shocked if Dobbs ever starts another game.

I would not be shocked at all to see him start the better part of two seasons.

He's virtually a lock to start the opener next year. If he performs well during the season, you stick with him and let the younger guys develop, as it should be.

Call me crazy, but I expect 20-21 year old Dobbs with the bulk of the 1st team practice reps to perform a little bit better than 18 year old Dobbs with 4th string reps.

Just caught up in this thread. Smh at some of these "fans".

Chanting eff you Florida isn't heinous. It's being a fanatic (not implying that not chanting that makes you not a fan). If you don't want your kids hearing f-bombs, pro-tip: don't take them to a college football game. For that matter don't take them a lot of places.

I have dropped an f bomb before but not in front of children. I should not have to keep my kid at home because you want to be a jackass and not watch your mouth around children. It's called being a gentleman and having some class and respect of others instead of being a selfish bastard.

What have you encountered in this world that has led you to believe that you can expect class/respect/selflessness while surrounded be over 100k people? Someone of which have been drinking, a good chunk of which are barely adults who may or may not have been drinking underage...heavily?

I agree that you shouldn't be cussing in front of children, but you can't expect that in that type of atmosphere. Remember, not every one was brought up like you. Sadly, to some people chanting "eff you Florida" is something that a "real" fan should do.

So you're using at someone on the Internet because they cussed defended cussing in a chant.

Yeah...your kid has heard it before.

Every single one of these reasons were listed as reasons that Ferguson or Dobbs would start over Worley in 2013. And those guys played better competition in high school.

ERMAGHERD, SOMEONE SAID A BAD WORD!!! Lemme crank my "righteous indignation" switch to 11 because I have sand in my buttcrack and NEVER do things like that, even when I was younger!!!!

Get over yourself. FFS, it happens. If it bothers you that bad where you're about to fall the **** out due to an aneurysm, wear ear protection or something. We're all sick and tired of your (and others, you're not the only one) incessant whining. Guess what, punkin.....this ain't a kinder, gentler world in which we live, and never will be. Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood only existed on television, as did Mayberry.

While it may be unlikely that large masses of people act to a high standard, I agree that they should be expected to. Otherwise, things become worse and worse.

I'm with JV as is CBJ.

This and only this.

Yeah shame on you JacketVol for expecting people to obey common rules of decency. And having just a small semblance of something looking somewhat similar to respect for other people besides themselves.

This world is so pathetic sometimes. Yeah I may sound like an old fogey preachy person. But I'm not. I'm 30. I was just taught to behave better than that. And to have some class. And to know that what I say and do might actually affect other people around me. Especially kids. It's not like i and people like me are taking their kids to bourbon street or something. It's a football game for crying out loud.

I'm not thrilled with the chant and wouldn't have been involved, but to think that things like that are not said loud and repeated in an atmosphere containing college aged kids who may or not have been drinking and parting, is beyond ridiculous. I've got a nine year old and I fully expect her to hear things like that. You're not at church. It's a perfect time for a teaching moment. She knows that we don't act that way and she knows why. But if I was that bothered by it, I would stay home. Have to expect to see and hear things in a group that size.

There's that excuse again. Oh they're just college kids. You see that a lot on this board.

Being young doesn't absolve you of all the need to be responsibile and respectable. You don't get a waiver for all your choices (this argument is not just about the chant, but you see the dumb college kid excuse on here about other things too. Just doesn't go far with me personally).

I have been going to Neyland for games since before I can even remember. My dad started taking me when I was two, I think. I'm not saying I never heard bad language there from time to time as a kid. But In a loud, repetitive chant?? It's just not ok IMO.

How about instead of me staying home to protect my kids, how about they stay home til they learn how to act?
