'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

Someone turned on the mic in front of the band (which the student section surrounds), so the F U Florida chant from the student sectionwas projected over the loudspeakers on the field. That's why everyone heard it, not because the whole stadium chanting it. Just the student section. Whoever made the decision to switch that mic on is an idiot. The students have chanted that phrase towards the end of every Florida game that I can remember, win or lose. I don't know why everyone keeps saying the entire stadium was chanting the phrase.

Who said it was ok that they did it? Saying that they're college kids is not an excuse, it's fact. I did plenty of crap when I was that age that I look back and think I probably shouldn't have done but at the time, it seemed like a good idea.

And yeah, let's tell all the kids involved to stay at home till they "learn how to act." Sounds like a great idea.

There's that excuse again. Oh they're just college kids. You see that a lot on this board.

Being young doesn't absolve you of all the need to be responsibile and respectable. You don't get a waiver for all your choices (this argument is not just about the chant, but you see the dumb college kid excuse on here about other things too. Just doesn't go far with me personally).

I have been going to Neyland for games since before I can even remember. My dad started taking me when I was two, I think. I'm not saying I never heard bad language there from time to time as a kid. But In a loud, repetitive chant?? It's just not ok IMO.

How about instead of me staying home to protect my kids, how about they stay home til they learn how to act?

You're overreacting because of a word being chanted.

According to a realiable source, the interception last night was due to the receiver cutting of the route and Dormady expecting him to continue downfield along the sideline. Not sure who read the defense wrong but they were definitely not on the same page. He was under pressure all night. The defenses have been blitzing constantly and his line is struggling to slow them down. They do not have a running game the other teams have to respect. There were also several drops that should have been completions.
He's not in the optimum situation to showcase his talent.

On a side note, he had a couple really nice punts.

ERMAGHERD, SOMEONE SAID A BAD WORD!!! Lemme crank my "righteous indignation" switch to 11 because I have sand in my buttcrack and NEVER do things like that, even when I was younger!!!!

Get over yourself. FFS, it happens. If it bothers you that bad where you're about to fall the **** out due to an aneurysm, wear ear protection or something. We're all sick and tired of your (and others, you're not the only one) incessant whining. Guess what, punkin.....this ain't a kinder, gentler world in which we live, and never will be. Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood only existed on television, as did Mayberry.

Internet tough guy. So scary...

Still want me to lurk?

Light or darkness? Comment or silence? Truth or lies? Respect or disdain? All being played out right here on this thread.

It has nothing to do with "righteous indignation". Who said send them all to hell for saying a bad word? It is called knowing how to act with class and be a gentleman in front of children. It really doesn't matter if you are a Christian or an Atheist. It is called not being a selfish individual who cares nothing about those around you.

I'm not thrilled with the chant and wouldn't have been involved, but to think that things like that are not said loud and repeated in an atmosphere containing college aged kids who may or not have been drinking and parting, is beyond ridiculous. I've got a nine year old and I fully expect her to hear things like that. You're not at church. It's a perfect time for a teaching moment. She knows that we don't act that way and she knows why. But if I was that bothered by it, I would stay home. Have to expect to see and hear things in a group that size.

We are partly excusing the behavior because they have been drinking. I know it goes on in even high school but it is still illegal activity. So, as a teaching moment, where as parents do you draw the line to decide when it is ok to break the law. You can argue this forever, but this is my last take on it. Obviously, no one is going to change anyone's mind. Glad QD had a great game.

Where, pray tell, did I threaten anyone?? Go ahead and re-read that quote. Then, go down to your local college and take a remedial reading comprehension course. Might do you some good.

I said righteous indignation. I said nothing about religion (go ahead and re-read it too, I'll wait). Like I DID say, Mayberry and Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood only existed on television. The world ain't like that, and never will be. Being selfish has jack squat to do with it, you know it as well as I do. Maybe there are some people with class left in the world (I happen to be one of them, whether any of you believe it or not), but they're few and far between. I consider myself to be a classy, respectful person......but I also know that this world ain't gonna change for you because you got a sore *** 'cause someone said a bad word in your presence.

And now, let's get this thread back on track. That Quincy Dermatology kid's pretty good. Glad he's coming to UT.

While it may be unlikely that large masses of people act to a high standard, I agree that they should be expected to. Otherwise, things become worse and worse.

I'm with JV as is CBJ.

Worse and worse how? What will a "**** you Florida" chant lead to being "worse and worse?" It's not like dropping a few f bombs sets you on an unavoidable path to devil worship or anything.

Slippery slope arguments are the worst.
