'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

Got to keep in mind, shuttle and 40 measure two very different attributes and abilities. I too think it will be very interesting to see how the qb competition shakes out. I think Dobbs, Jennings and Dormady all bring excellent physical abilities, qualities and talents to the table. I think it will come down to the intangibles such as game management and football IQ. Since Dormady has lived with a coach all his life and been groomed for this position since day one, I give him the edge. Not sure when he takes the starting job but I believe he will be the one.

Nothing against the others as they are all elite athletes and the team is better having them all on the team.

I also find it interesting Dormady was continued to be recruited, offered and committed after Jennings committed. I may be reading too much into that but it does stand out to me a little.

So refreshing to see somebody that disagrees on this board that doesn't resort to name calling and attacks....:good!:

If it comes down to intangibles, then there will be a pretty good battle. JJ is extrememly competitive and has an unbelievable drive to succeed. Not many kids can take a team on their back being down 28 pts with 11 minutes left and pull it out. He has the "it" factor for sure. But like you said, the team is going to be better for it no matter who wins the job eventually.

As to the recruiting part, they were always going to take 2 qbs with this class.

I understand about competitiveness. Jennings comeback was very impressive. It takes a serious dose of competitiveness to get to this point.

Dormady has shown quite a bit of it as well. Coming back from shoulder surgery and missing an entire year took quite a bit. Also, his team went 2-8 last year without him. This hear, they've only lost two games, 6-2. Both losses were to teams superior in overall talent to his.

We're not going to suffer having BOTH of these young men on the team...one or both makes a mark on this program.

Do high schools count sacks as negative rushing yards or no? :hi:

Kamo thanks for the info on his game last night and his updated stat's.

On what do you base this?

Hudl says it's Nike Sparq verified for both athletes. Is your source more reliable?

Boom?

And sorry I don't have time or care to be on here all day

Also, I've been to these combines, it's silly to care for those times... Jennings is really quick laterally

They do, but I have no idea how many times he's been sacked. FWIW, in Boerne's previous 2 games Dormady rushed a total of 16 times for 127 yards.

thanks. I was just curious because his YPC seems a little low, not that it really matters in the long run but it seems to me like these guys in high school normally have crazy averages

He is a pro style QB that isn't a statue.. Pretty much it

Hope he is faster and quicker than Worley and Peterman. If not, the offense won't reach its full potential with him playing.

I was thinking the same thing, and wondering if CBJ and Bajakian are re-thinking the whole concept of trying to make a pocket passer fit their zone read scheme, like they did with Worley...just because they hadn't previously had a dynamic athlete like Dobbs, who could hurt defenses as a runner when the pocket breaks down, or on designed QB draws and keepers.

I think Dobbs performance thus far is causing them to re-evaluate the kind of QB that best fits their offense.

Yeah. Very glad we have JJ committed. I'd be concerned if we didn't have a true DT QB. I'm sure Dormady will be a good one though. It just remains to be seen how effective he is in this scheme versus JJs style. Having Dormady already implemented our offense on his team can't hurt.

I don't think CBJ requires a DT QB to run his offense. I just think a DT QB gets better results when the offensive line isn't great (ex. Dobbs)

Bingo. I think with a good OL a primarily pocket passer (who can run when needed) will do great in this offense. Dormady fits that mold. CBJ just needs to whip the OL into shape and let the big dog eat!
