'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

Where would Dormady rank among our QB's speed wise?

Someone (volunteerlane maybe?) said that Dormady was faster than any QB currently on our roster. Not sure if it's true, but I know I read it on here somewhere. Sorry VL if it wasn't you that said it. If not, I can't remember who.

I remember reading something along these lines as well. I'll try and find it.

I don't think CBJ requires a DT QB to run his offense. I just think a DT QB gets better results when the offensive line isn't great (ex. Dobbs)
A DT QB with good passing skills/acumen is the ideal for this offense. A pocket passer who can run it once in a while MAY work, but if I were in their shoes, I would not be recruiting them, henceforth.

Both Dormady and Kendall may work pretty well, as they are about like Bo Wallace and Driskell in terms of mobility. Mobile enough to escape the pocket and gain a few yards or keep defenses honest, with a few keepers off the zone read.

But after Kendall, I think you'll see them trending more toward the true DT.

Bingo. I think with a good OL a primarily pocket passer (who can run when needed) will do great in this offense. Dormady fits that mold. CBJ just needs to whip the OL into shape and let the big dog eat!
I don't think Bajakian's offensive scheme fits that type of QB. They've tried to MAKE it work with a pocket passer, and frankly it damn near torpedoed the whole season. It just doesn't fit, and I think Bajakian, Mahoney and Butch are starting to realize that. If they had name Dobbs the starter in fall camp, and given him the lion's share of 1st team reps in practice, this offense isn't the weak link, and we probably beat both UGA & UF, plus upset either OU or Ole Mi$$.

Mahoney has probably never coached an OL for a traditional power running game and passing attack, and I think that is one big reason why this OL has struggled with it. Same goes for last season, when we had a Senior-laden NFL line. They looked worse than the year before.

He saw his first game at Neyland Stadium in October when he made an unofficial visit for the Vols' loss to Florida.

"Once I figured out that I was committed there and obviously knew I was going to get to a game, that's when everyone starts talking," he said. "'There's nothing like it,' and all that kind of stuff, and it definitely lived up to that and more. It was an incredible atmosphere, and I enjoyed every bit of it.

"I can't wait to be suiting up in that and be a part of the program on the player side of it rather than the spectator side. I enjoyed every bit of that visit. It was a blast to get to be a part of that atmosphere with the checkerboard around the stadium and all that, so it was pretty sweet."

It is pretty obvious that he is quick. Not to mention, several too programs want him to play in their secondary. Go figure.

How about we let these two great senior HIGH SCHOOL quarterbacks get on the team and compete next year before hailing one of them King of the Mountain? Honestly, I hope they both RS their first year.

Driskell is fast as hell. Way faster than wallace and probably faster than dobbs. They're just all white so the comparison was made as it always is. That being said I hope Kendall is much better than driskell

Not sure if serious...

obviously Driskell and Wallace have to be intelligent, high motor guys...

Posted this in another forum and thought I'd drop it in here too. We're seeing Dobbs be dual threat and wondering about QD's athleticism...

"Josh Dobbs' 40 time coming out of HS - 4.7

QD's - 4.72

Josh Dobbs' 5-10-5 Shuttle coming out of HS - 4.53

QD's - 4.15

So he's a shoe lace slower in the 40 (Acceleration & top end speed) and a step faster in the shuttle (agility).

Sounds like he'll fit the offense just fine."

Nope. Must be Mike Vick fast to be considered an actual dual-threat.

Yes, it's obvious they are both elite high school prospects that have been heavily recruited by many quality programs. I never doubted that or their quickness.

Wish someone would show me where I said Jennings isn't quick. Just because the published data shows Dormady to be quicker, that doesn't make Jennings slow.

It was a question, slow down.

FWIW a 4.8+ shuttle isn't quick. I think AV was questioning the validity of his time because Jennings is most definitely quick.
