Says his surgery was to remove scar tissue in his right shoulder. Not sure if relTed to original injury last year. Said they won't tell him why scar tissue is there but is becoming more common in throwers. He said it wasn't a long term issue and expects to be able to throw in spring practice.

This may have been discussed already but when I look at our recruiting class for '15 all the pieces seem to fit except QD. To me he doesn't seem to be the type of QB that fits into CBJ's offensive style. What does he bring to the table that I am missing?

I seem to remember several reports where he posted great shuttle and 40 times which were comparable to dobbs so i think hes much more athletic than most realize. Plus from all accounts his hs team didnt have much talent this year and hurt his senior numbers. The kid seems to be a great leader and a very very hard worker who is all vol. I think hes gonna fit in great

Let's see. Probably the strongest arm in this 2015 class of QB's and has clocked a 4.7 40 time with that. If he's healthy and all good in between the ears, I expect him to compete for the starting job in the next two years

He fits the offense perfectly. Has a great arm, is accurate and has mobility. How doesnt he fit? I guarantee they don't want their QB's running 12-15 times a game. Dormady is perfect for this offense.

Lol..I definitely don't think Jennings ever plays QB at UT..Especially when so called experts see NFL potential at safety from him. He would be crazy to not make that swap with that being a potential career money maker!

There have been several great NFL quaterbacks that were recruited in college to play a different position and that were told by some great college coaches they would be better at a different position. Jim Kelly of the BB comes to mind. Don't count the kid out. He may surprise you.

offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach mike bajakian on top247 quarterback quinten dormady: "we are excited to welcome quinten to our football family. He is an accurate passer with a quick release who possesses a skill set that will help him excel in our offense. As the son of a coach, quinten has been around the game his entire life and exhibits all the intangibles you look for in a leader and a quarterback."

The part I was missing was the mobility, which is a must for our offensive style. Things I read about him has him represented as more of a pro style great arm but without great mobility. I think that a true threat of a run from a QB is a must have for us as our offense is not geared around drop back passing. So apparently QD, in addition to the arm strength, is a true run threat is that correct?

I never cease to be amazed at the number of posters talking about how a particular type QB "is a must for our offensive style". I feel reasonably certain the coaches know what type QB they want and what skill sets. I also feel reasonably certain if they recruit and accept the commitment of a particular QB, then that QB probably has the skill set they want "for our offense".
