'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

I never cease to be amazed at the number of posters talking about how a particular type QB "is a must for our offensive style". I feel reasonably certain the coaches know what type QB they want and what skill sets. I also feel reasonably certain if they recruit and accept the commitment of a particular QB, then that QB probably has the skill set they want "for our offense".

They started Worley the past 2 years. Was he the best fit for our offensive style? You obviously think so because the staff made that decision.

I'm sure Athletic Director Hart would like to get your resume. And yes I do trust CBJ to know what our offense needs. Once we have an effective offensive line I'm pretty sure the future is bright for a pro-style QB instead of a run first QB. If Worley had been protected by an effective O-line I feel like he would have been a really good QB.

Pretty widely know we were trying to redshirt Dobbs and Worley was better than Peterman.

So I think CBJ does know his own system.

Don't forget you started in on me first. All I did was ask a simple question. So stop with the resume bull$**t. I don't think Worley was right for our style offense. The pocket protection made less difference than worleys immobility. Dobbs had the same offensive line but he made it work. CBJ never even tried to organize around Worleys strengths. He pushed him right into the zone read and it was a square peg round hole situation. So again back to my original question was simply is QD the kind of QB that can make the offense work like dobbs is doing?

I understand that. So was it worth it to burn dobbs' redshirt? If so should he have burned it earlier in the season to have given dobbs even more time to develop? At the end of the day what would have been better for the program?

We won a bowl game with Dobbs...worth it.

This may have been discussed already but when I look at our recruiting class for '15 all the pieces seem to fit except QD. To me he doesn't seem to be the type of QB that fits into CBJ's offensive style. What does he bring to the table that I am missing?

Just noticed that you made my point for me. Thanks Butchna, I appreciate it. I'll give you a like for that..

Already accidentally gave you one earlier...you should reach 100 by the time your boys drop....just to clarify...your point was that trying to redshirt Dobbs and go with Worley was a good decision?...no thanks needed. Next time you get over your head trying to formulate a point, send up the butchna signal. :salute:

You are so into yourself that you don't even get it...let me break it down for ya fella.

1. I did not know how mobile QD is. Worley doesnt have great mobility. He didn't work in CBJ system because of the limited mobility. So I was simply asking about QD's mobility. Having mobility seems to be a must for CBJs offense to function.

2. Was CBJ playing for this year or next? Everybody says trust butch (which I do completely). But it looked like he would've stuck with Worley the entire season had he not gotten injured and was forced to burn the redshirt. We may not have gone to or won a bowl if Worley stayed the starter. So was he making the right call for this year by keeping Worley in? You agree burning dobbs' redshirt got us a bowl win. So do you think staying with Worley so long was the right call? If so you are contradicting yourself.

I think the English thing is what's getting you all turned around....SPORT...I don't fall into this bear trap of bellyaching whether Butch "shoulda done this" or "coulda done that"...people who let menstrual blood run down their leg over that crap have no way of knowing how Dobbs would have done as the starter against Oklahoma...Butch watched him at practice AND went with Worley. Maybe he does well or maybe it destroys him and we don't end up with the Dobbs that finished up the season. Not bellyaching over the unknown allows me to enjoy the bowl win and state that the trials of this season were "worth it"...also allows me to consider Dormady a possible asset even though there are people that deign to know Butch's system more than he does...hope that helps you...fella.
