Dobbs rushed for 263 yards in five games for a 52.6 average per game. Had he played the entire season at QB his rush total would have been approx 631 yds (based upon extrapolation). Had Dobbs played all season and had around that rushing total that would been a little over 25% of the total rushing yards for the team. That number would have been consistent with CBJ's QB's historical rushing percentages...
I really really wish people who don't follow recruiting closely would stay away from these threads. You don't know what the **** you are talking about.
I know everyone is excited and you should be - but let me make you even more excited.
Had he not had the injury he would be a 5* across the board #1 QB and #1 overall prospect right now.
Best high school QB prospect in a decade maybe longer.
Continue the boomage.
Maybe instead of trying to convince VolNation that Dormady is the wrong QB for Butch's system, you need to make an appt. to meet with Butch and explain to him why he was wrong to accept the commitment of this guy who clearly does not fit his system. For what UT pays our coach he should be able to do a better job of assessing system needs. Since he struggles with that though I'm sure he would like to have you help evaluate for him in the future.Explain how CBJ "adjusted" his system last year?
He and his offensive coordinator lamented numerous times that Worley needed to carry the ball more and Worley reiterated the same comments.
I think Dormady is a really nice pro-style QB. As I said before though I hope that he can improve his running ability and his zone read skills.

IMO, CBJ has always been going after TG pretty hard for a while now. But, Butch has also been looking at other targets aka Gentry, Dormady, etc. due to the fact TG wants to wait out until NSD. We don't have the luxury to wait that long and miss out on TG. Butch did the right thing here. Take a QB that is a leader, works hard, and is an EE. He found that in QD and I believe TG's ship has now sailed. I also do not believe we will take TG's commitment in the future either. Go vols, GBO, Dormady for Heisman, etc.
Some keys to me:
-Age. He is already 18 years old and physically more mature than his contemporaries. Probably more mentally mature as well.
-EE. He will be an almost 19 year old guy going through spring practice next season. A 19 year old guy with a spring session of practice, weightlifting, nutrition, time working with WRs, and film/playbook study. He will be in a much better position to potentially contribute, if need be, as a FR than most.
-The Injury. Obviously not ideal to miss your JR season in HS as a QB, and I feel that led to him being under the radar. However, he essentially served as his team's QB coach and handpicked his replacement and trained him all summer. That is a leadership quality that cannot be understated. An obvious sign of being a coach's son. The kid is a leader, and a year of watching football from the sidelines didn't go wasted for him.
I'm not going to call this kid Peyton Manning because Manming had all those leadership qualities AND elite physical ability. That remains to be seen for Dormady. However, from a leadership, maturity, and football junkie standpoint, he seems to have a lot of Manning-esque qualities. If he has even half of PM's physical abilities, we have a winner.
