'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

Do some research and get back at me.

I think you'll take this statement back.

Why would I do that? I'm just looking to borrow your sunshine pumper man! It's raining like hell here and I could use some optimism. I've done plenty of research on Dormady as well as every other main recruit we're in on this cycle. Didn't you read the label under my name? "I get it."

Why would we not take a commit from a top 10 player, number one target, best prospect at a position of need? We will try until he signs to get him. CBJ took QD just in case. You don't want to wait till Dec not get picked and miss on all good qbs. QD is good but no TG. If TG wants to come CBJ will be jumping through the roof.

#1) QD and TG are two different styles of quarterback so IMO yes QD is no TG, but only due to style of play.

#2) The only way I see us taking TG's commitment is if we have scholarships to blow in Feb. next year. We are going to have a small recruiting class compared to normal and we have a lot of other positions that need attention as well (OL, DL, LB, etc.).

#3) This goes along with #2. We have 2 QB's committed already. Jennings and Dormady. Two different styles from what I have seen. No need for a 3rd QB. Plus, Jennings is working his tail off to get better with his passing mechanics. That shows leadership to me as well.

#4) This one is more speculation on my part, but I have noticed that CBJ does not put up with crap off the field. If I remember correctly (and I apologize if I am wrong), but TG got himself into some hot mess with his HS team and got kicked off. Not the personality type CBJ would want on his team nor does it parallel the personalities of the players he has recruited so far.

What you don't "get" is how rare it is to have a high school QB with that type of size and strength.

As a SOPHOMORE he had velocity on his throws that 80% of NFL QB's would kill for. He has hands the size of a small forward.

When he arrives on campus he'll probably be around 6'5-6'6 with an SEC build out of high school.

An extremely rare prospect.

#4 - underrated post IMO.

Anything you say, Gruden....:)

Nice to see that name in recruiting forum with UT commit in parenthesis. CBJ is a closer. You give him enough time with almost any player and he'll have him drinking the koolaid.

Dobbs rushed for 263 yards in five games for a 52.6 average per game. Had he played the entire season at QB his rush total would have been approx 631 yds (based upon extrapolation). Had Dobbs played all season and had around that rushing total that would been a little over 25% of the total rushing yards for the team. That number would have been consistent with CBJ's QB's historical rushing percentages...

What is your point in all of this? Butch offered, Dormady accepted and both seem to be ecstatic.

I know everyone is excited and you should be - but let me make you even more excited.

Had he not had the injury he would be a 5* across the board #1 QB and #1 overall prospect right now.

Best high school QB prospect in a decade maybe longer.

Continue the boomage.

I know you're joking around and I haven't gone through all this thread yet, but there have been some very interesting comments about the kid in the last day.

247 guys saying he may have the best arm in the entire class and would be a lock to be a Top 100 guy if not for his injury last year.

Hubbs off all people saying emphatically he is a 4* talent who blew the staff away the last few times they saw him throw.

This is a big-time pickup.

And also there is no way this means anything in regards to TG. They will continue to pursue him just like they would any elite prospect. It's nuts to think they wouldn't. All of his Top schools now have at least 1 other QB committed.

I'm not sure either. To be honest Dormady looks more athletic to me out of HS than Dobbs did.

Can't be,Patricia said under QD's prospectus,it definitely says "pro Style" not Dual Threat,so no way he can be more athletic...ie,Andrew Luck,Aaron Rodgers,John Elway,etc...
those guys are like statues because they are "Pro Style"...

I know you're kidding but for the others who aren't the kid had a 4.15 shuttle time, that is as fast as some corners and WRs. Kid can run if he needs to.

I wish ppl would cheer up....Hes the number 5 qb in the country and will b ranked high by all services after his senior year.....IMO this is the best qb commitment UT has had sice Clausen.......

They are not the same because TG is better . He passes just as well and is way more athletic.

So they wouldn't make room for the guy who is their number one target and a top 10 player? They took QD in case we don't get Tg. Not instead.

You can never have too much competition. Let all three fight it out and the worst transfers. If QD is the guy he will win and the other two transfer or move positions.

His coach was apparently trying to steer his recruitment to the U and there were words. Hardly thuggish or bad off the field behavior.

Hard to tell. I would lean toward Dobbs being more athletic. I always like a QB with baseball background. It usually means they have some athleticism to their game.

Errr....

Edit: Can't tell if you're acknowledging QD's baseball background or not.
