'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

From Gibson's thread:

Edit: He didn't specify as a QB in his post but that was the gist from that I gathered from the conversation. Could be wrong and he meant at another position but didn't seem like it.

The coaching staff will almost always continue to recruit a position through NSD. Things can and sometimes do happen.

Who said he was top. They put the full court press on Gentry who is a similar QB to Dormady. Was said many times to be believed that Gentry was the #1 target. JS

TG said in an interview that he was the #1 target...and he wouldn't lie!...not to Patrick!!! :eek:hmy:

What I find hilarious is the thinking that because TG "may" have been #1 at some point, that means no matter what he stays there. The coaches take Dormady, does not matter because he was lower on the board. What if every uncommitted QB who was offered before Quinten was offered tried to commit to UT today? We just take them all? They were possibly higher on the board. This recruiting stuff is easy.

If its TG the number 8 player in the country you do. If its another qb maybe not. Nothing wrong with competition. If Dormady is the best he will play. If TG is the best he will play. The point is the coaches haven't stopped recruiting Tg and he still is a priority. They took Dormady because you don't pass on talent like that if they want to come. That doesn't mean they won't take the qb with more talent if he wants to come.

You accept a commitment from a QB...the commitment is reciprocal...all of the TG lobby fail to give their guy credit for seeing that...we're off his list. :yess:

The fans felt Harrell and Johnson were priorities as well. Right up until UT passed on them. Gibson more talent than Dormady as a QB? I'll let you think that.

Tony Pike/ Zach Collaros.....average mobile pro-styles that put up great numbers in this "system". Having an accurate passer, that can read the situation far outweighs mobility in this offense. The cool thing is, Dormady appears to have both.

Great to see you post today Boro..... :hi:

Thanks, sir :hi:

Just dunno why we would recruit 3 QB's in a very small class.

Remember when the TG Mafia were complaining about Dormady posts on his thread? What are they talking about on there nowadays?

I think the coaches were comfortable enough to take Dormady regardless of the impact on TG's decision. My guess is this made TG's decision for him.

Fans not coaches. The coaches and experts have all made it clear how big a priority he is for us. The others not at all. He is on a McKenzie or Hurd level not Johnson. You don't pass up this talent. Especially after all the time and money spent recruiting him. The rankings and evaluations say he has more talent as well as the film. Tg has just as strong of an arm and more overall athletic ability. To me that makes him more talented. All experts seem to agree. They both have one year of qb film to go on and one is top 20 consensus the other was hurt and needs to be reranked. When he is though he will be top 150 vs a top 20 player.

Well we know all 3 won't be QB's. But 2 are freak athletes that can translate to some other spots. Take all 3 if you can, let them battle, and let the worst of the 3 be a safety or receiver

So would you be turning away Kyle Phillips or Drew Richmond to add a 3rd QB that may not play QB? Just curious.

I don't see why this is so hard to comprehend. If QD wins the job he must be good and you have two 5 star athletes to move. If he doesn't beat one of them that means one is a great dt qb which is best for the o and we have QD to back up or transfer and one 5 star athlete to move. If any of them are scared of the others they don't need to be here. We don't need any more Ferguson's expecting the job to be handed to them.

You and I both know it won't be, according to VQ, our top DE and OT prospects. The numbers work themselves out. A lot of people didn't see Dominique Booth decommitting last year this time.. so, we'll see. I'm not gonna throw out names

Dead issue...Gibson doesn't like to compete in camps...why do it here?

I don't know how TG's abilities translate to other positions on the field so I can't say "Hey, he can always play Long Snapper or Water Boy". I just see the recruiting thing differently. Me, I'd like to have more DL and OL than bringing in 3 possible QB's and letting them battle it out. To me, Jennings and Dormady is enough battling. Next year is loaded with QB talent (from what I've seen) so take 1 or possibly 2 again next year. We still have tons of holes to fill in other areas so we need to address them as well.

SN: I am more for Dormady than TG, but I'm sure it is already noticeable :)

I have to admit I'm scratching my a head a bit on this one. He's not highly sought after, yet. He's doesn't seem to fit the mold of a Butch Jones QB. But, I'll defer to theat coaches to make those calls. He's a VOL now so I'm behind him 1 hunnert percent.

Big kid, good feet, very athletic (4.73 40 & 4.15 shuttle), very good in the pocket, strong arm, very accurate. He's a 2star on Rivals due to not being evaluated by those guys since injury forced him to sit his junior year. 4 star on 24/7. Alabama, Okla St among others offered him. I'd say he fits the mold of a Butch QB very well.
