'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

Also, I think a lot of you guys are assuming a spread means a DT QB which is not the case.

Take a gander at Okie lite. Weeden had -100 rushing yds a year there and lit it up.

Google pro style everything that pops up utilizes a fullback.

I form is a staple of pro style. The ace formation uses one back but most pro style is not ran from the ace formation.

Pro teams use 11 personnel far more than 21. Almost no one plays with a FB anymore.

Also if the use of a FB makes you a pro style team, auburn used the FB more than anyone in America last year. A lot of times they even played with two FBs

True but traditionally CBJ's qbs have rushed for 450-1200 yards a year depending on the qb. CBJ will adjust if Dormady is the qb though. He would be an idiot not to.

If the other guys get their blocks, he could run a 6.2 40 and pick up a 1st down here and there.

A very good point about the blocks. I seen Eddie Brown a Vol defensive back in the early 70's run a punt return for a TD against Vandy (I believe in 1973) and it must have taken 20 seconds to run about 70 yards. He slowed down to just about a stop a couple of times to point out people that needed to be blocked. Eddie had decent speed but he was in no way "fast". He later played for the Redskins in the NFL. He was great at following his blocks.

Butch was not coaching in the SEC at that time either. Nor did he have a roster full of tall and fast all-world receivers then.

The thing about rules when it comes to football schemes is that there are no rules anymore. Which is why Butch says he can use any style of QB and tailor his offense to the skillset. Quinten may turn out to be an excellent choice with whom to do that.

The rules still exist, but the game is continuing to evolve on a yearly basis.

Lol we still run a pro style offense? On that note, I'm out.

-Later rednecks-

What do the packers, patriots, Broncos, among other pro teams run? The definition of a prostyle offense is always changing due to the evolution of the game. In the 50's the prostyle was a single wing. In the 80's, it was the power-I. In the 2000's, it was the west coast offense. Evolution is always happening in football. Best scheme survives.

While this is true that it evolves. Our offense look nothing like any of the teams you mention.

Not sure why everyone is trying to label an offense as pro style or spread. There are more than just 2 types of offenses. Just because ESPN creates buzz words does not mean the coaches try to fit their offense into one style or another.

Great teams use many different schemes and styles of offense and change according to their personnel and who they are playing each week.

You once again make too much sense. VN is not the place for you.

You're correct. There are so many different kinds of offenses nowadays.

I did say Butch would adjust the o if Dormady starts. If its JJ or TG he will run the whole o.

You do not understand that our offense is not the Auburn offense where the QB is running a spread option. UT runs a read option- two different schemes. Ewe also run a west coast passing offense built around having tall skilled WRs, who are not going to continue signing with UT if UT goes with a QB who runs more than he passes.

The west coast and variations based off it is the best type of offense IMO.
