'16 AL ATH Tadarryl Marshall (FORMER UT commit 4/28/15)

Too many bad takes every year

Bs the coaches don't do a better job on the front end every singles damn class

Burning bridges will catch up with them at some point

Agreed. Really don't want to see Tn with that reputation when it's so simple to just avoid taking so many commitments early every year.

Winning fixes everything.. I realize that's a cynical point of view but it's true.. Butch wins and the fans will forgive..

I hated this with Marques Ford last year and I hate it now. That being said, Butch is taking care of the program. Get program defining players and be willing to be the bad guy when needed. Many advocated doing likewise with Chance Hall after his blown Achilles...Butch stuck by him. Good guy realistic guy balancing act. Leb praised Cutcliffe last year for promising a QB recruit he'd be the only one offered and delivered on that. Cut's a great teacher...bad recruiter.

A tough part of the business. I hope that most 3* kids realize when they commit to a top team (especially in SEC) that there is a strong possibility this will happen. He will still land at a good football school with his talent. Good luck TM!

This has happened every year, and while I hate it for the kids, it's the nature of the beast. It's easy for us to sit at home and criticize every move that CBJ makes, but I doubt very few of us (if any) have the type of pressure on our jobs that he faces. Hell, we had plenty of people on here griping about games that we won. People wanting to put his head on the chopping block. If new prospects surface that want to commit that are far superior to a current commit, then realistically, would you turn them away. To be the best you have to recruit the best. It's not always pretty. I don't like it, but I also understand that it is a necessary evil.

We want it all..WIN!..NOW!..OR ELSE!!! We'll be wanting to send you packing Butch, if you dont win the SEC by your 3rd year, and a NC by your 4th. Oh and don't make any mistakes in recruiting either. Do it all perfect, all the freakin time...OR ELSE!!

Totally agree. If the pressure to win immediately wasn't what it is in major college sports, then we'd see less of this as coaches would have time to develop these under the radar players or we'd watch the guys transfer when they couldn't compete at the major level.

This aspect of recruiting is an unfortunate byproduct of the system that we all love and cheer for on a weekly basis.

Sept 1 singing day where kids can sign at any point after that is the best thing

Then we would see exactly how well coaches can evaluate

Recruits aren't like fish is a live well.

This is why u keep taking visits and keep communicating with other schools.

Good luck
Glad he knows this is the business side of things.

As long as continuing to take visits is encouraged by the staff.

IMO the opposite is the case

Let's be real about this part too. According to his profile he had 25 known "offers"; so given that he has opportunities. Unless heaven forbid that Bama and Auburn offer is about a committable as ours is now.
Again timing could have been a lot worse for him. Best of luck.

From what I'm hearing it had nothing to do with any specific recruit. There were qualification concerns on our end. Staff doesn't want anymore Orlando Brown or Joseph Henderson issues.

Marshall is a talented kid that will probably end up at a mid major program.

Just weird when a writer for a recruiting site such as fortenberry and another poster writes a different opinion and we all take your word for it.... I think we all just wanted a different reason to believe for this

I said just last night that we would cut ties with some current commits...but I specifically said Marshall was a take. Wonder if we told Henderson the same...

And Sto, I do agree that I wish these marginal guys Butch would hold off on taking a commitment until later. Maybe he will learn that he is elite at recruiting, and can be a little patient waiting on higher targets before accepting commitments from prospects who are lower on the board.

I agree. Just wait on bigger fish and work way down. Not down up
