'16 FL OT Marcus Tatum (UT commit 1/11/16)

I do find it odd that if he does commit to us, he is doing so right before OVs to Florida and Miami. Hopefully this isn't a stint to see which of the two other schools will push hard for him to flip in the upcoming month.

He's not taking those officials because he said he's already decided.

I said scout for UT is better than 247 for info. Maybe not the quantity of info but definitely the quality. The 247 guys post articles where Barton Simmons will talk to a kid and ask one question about UT. I'm sure Danny and even Ryan knew something about Shoop but I guarantee it wasn't weeks before the hire, and I bet they heard through somewhere after VQ posted the info.

Rankings wise scout doesn't do as much as Rivals/247. I guess effort/manpower isn't everything.

I don't completely agree. The 247 guys, notably Callahan (who primarily covers recruiting), has done a very good job this year in regards to recruiting news (IMO). He was pretty much the first guy to go out on a limb and call Tatum to UT based on a source he obviously respected (unless I missed some info. from VQ). You can see the quote I posted a page or two back. His grammar isn't reminiscent of a 6 year old, and his info. is typically solid, which is evidenced by his CB predictions on 247. He writes recruiting articles frequently that are solely about UT. Articles written by other national recruiting guys (Bartow, Wiltfong, Niebuhr, Simmons, etc.) in which recruits mention UT are just posted to the UT 247 page. I like that aspect of 247 because it helps keep information in perspective and keeps the orange-tinted glasses off.

Last, I know a lot of people don't care for Rucker much. I'm not a big fan. However, he kept track of the DC search pretty well, IMO. He's not Hubbs when it comes to information within the program, but his info is typically pretty solid. It's his opinions on matters that drive his criticism.

HG I hate the florida gators.....but you are OK in my book too.
Keep it coming, sometimes we need a kick in the stones to keep the VN expectations in check!

I saw somewhere that Tatum was committing today at 2:45, anyone know how/where?

Gator, don't worry most respect your info. I like your insight, nobody is right all the time. Just remember all boards got some that just love to take jabs when they can. I might not agree or like everything you post but it's not because I don't you as a rival poster, cause I do. Go Vols!

I think Tatum is a nice pickup, he can redshirt and add the weight. Sometimes it's good to get this type of red-shirt, it adds depth in the long run. GBO!

Finishing with Tatum and Dickerson would make for an excellent 2016 OL class. That would be 4 really talented players with tons of upside. In an ideal world, we could redshirt all four and let them grow in strength and size. However, Dickerson might be impossible to keep off the field in 2016. If Stewart comes back as well, the depth and quality of talent is just mindboggling. Given the fast pace that CBJ wants the offense to play at, quality depth is critical.

Hope we land Dickerson. I could really see him being in the 2 deep from the start.

*Edit, no slight at Tatum. I hope (believe) we get him too. Need those long, athletic Ts.

Measurables remind me of Dallas Thomas as a recruit. Hopefully the similarities won't end there.
