I agree. It took a few weeks, but he is now playing every bit as good as Maggitt. I may get blasted for that, but the past two weeks he has. JMO.

Let em blast you! Bet they won't after they look at the film. :nono:

Cory Vereen has always had a quick step I thought, but its gotta be very promising for Butch to be able to put it all together these last couple weeks. He's allowed Barnett to be able to dominate 1 on1 matchups. Barnett could be poised for another 10 sack season.

I think he ends up with 13

I've been very impressed with Vereen the past few weeks. His motor is nonstop and has really stepped up in the last few games

My mind has gone blank. Who has been relieving Vereen in games. Seems like he has had some decent plays while in too.

UTsports says 5, but I could've sworn he got 2 in the UK game and had 4 going into that game.

He tackled Towles once after he'd gotten behind him and they fell across the line for like a one yard gain. Looked like a sack. May or not be the other one you were thinking of.

That's probably what it was. I'd like to see him have another 3 sack night vs. S. Carolina.

Based off what, recruiting rankings?

Vereen's on field production the last two weeks has been unbelievable. If he plays like that for the rest of the season, no way he is losing his spot next year.

No one is knocking Vereen's play, it has been outstanding.

What if by next fall Kyle Phillips is bigger, stronger, and faster than Corey? And has outplayed him thru the Spring and Fall?

Do you start Vereen based on the prior years production?

All speculation of course, but that's all the conversation was ever about...

Unless he just completely came unhinged through Spring and Fall practices I would probably start Vereen and rotate Phillips on a regular bases. If/when he proves the better player on the field, then make the switch.

Jumper/Kirkland, while probably a lot different situation overall, was at least similar in that aspect. The coaches really did not know who was better in game early on. Kirkland wasn't setting the world on fire at the beginning either. Now, there is no question who is better, but early on DK wasn't much better.

Took the letters right out of my keyboard.

🤔 Did I say that right?

I get what you're saying. But:

1. Kyle Phillips will not be a True Freshman like DK.
2. Jumper was only starting because he knew the calls.
3. Kyle Phillips is not Colton Jumper.
