We can't take 5 unless we cut loose another two (or CBJ pulls some blueshirt magic out of his hat). Doing so could be highly detrimental to recruiting efforts in the areas where those 2 players are from, much like it's going to hurt us at MUS for a while.

I really doubt Butch wants to go that route again in this cycle... I think Dickerson would be the odd man out if all of those guys want to come and we can somehow get someone to count as a blueshirt (VQ guys seem to think it isn't possible this year, but I'm not a numbers guy so don't quote me on that).

Otherwise, I think the best we could do is finish with Derrick Brown, Kongbo, and Warrior and call it a day. That would make for a baller class imo

I cannot see a scenario where Butch can turn away an OL like Dickerson. Especially give the difficulties we have had with the OL the past couple of years.

If Butch has to burn a bridge or two to land Dickerson, then he should do it. Worry about consequences later.

IMO if Dickerson wants in, then Butch will find a way to get him in.

I agree, DT and OL if they are superior talent you make room. Cb and DE are next on that list of make room imo (not counting Qb this year since we have one only positions still recruiting)

Yea, I do remember reading that Hart was offered a blueshirt and refused. Like I said, I'm not a numbers guy at all. Just relaying that PFort seemed pretty certain that only 3 spots remained. If we do have the ability to blueshirt a guy, then it'd be 4.

Obviously I hope CBJ can blueshirt multiple guys so we can add each of the Big 5 remaining targets, but 5 open spots sounds like a stretch from everything I've read.

But back to Derrick Brown... more good news: apparently Gillespie, Butch, and Strip are putting on the full court press at an in-home tomorrow ahead of his OV this weekend, per a reliable poster on TOS. This recruiting process seems eerily similar to Drew Richmond's toward the end, and we all know how that turned out.

Still a few variables that could make it possible. Pfort was a little off on the numbers last year too. Maybe he right this time but the truth is only the staff knows what they can do. So let's go with 4 or 5 more!

If we can sign all of these ballers. we will.

I think he's a Vol and I think we have lead for a while. Just every interview when he talks about Tennessee and his final visit has always been Tennessee.

Very confident here.

I am not as confident but I like your viewpoint better. VB!!

The kid plays it close to the vest better than anyone I've seen. It's obvious that he loves Tennessee everytime he gets asked about them. I think he likes Auburn too but i truly believe he loves everything about Tennessee. The last visit will be the nail in the coffin in his recruitment when he gets to know Shoop a lot better. Vol on NSD IMO!

I think one reason that recruits wait longer or until NSD is so they don't have to listen to their friends/coaches pester them about why they didn't stay and play for home school. I am hoping this is the case for Brown.

He want/wouldn't... IMO, barring glaring character issues, no coach who is serious about winning (i.e. his job) will turn away talent like that..

I can't keep up with all of this recruiting information. What is the in-home situation with brown? Have we visited, has Auburn visited, has Georgia visited?

Copy-Paste like a bauce...

DT Derrick Brown, Sugar Hill (Ga.) Lanier

Brown has been a busy man since the dead period ended, having already taken official visits to Auburn and Georgia. Brown has long been rumored to be a lean to the Dawgs, but an official visit to Tennessee this weekend looms large. Add in the fact that Alabama and Mississippi State both headed into the dead period feeling very confident about their chances and you have a full-fledged recruiting mystery. The safe money remains on Georgia, but it's clear that Brown is going to weigh all his options before making a decision. With that in mind, the Vols getting the last visit could seal the deal.
