'16 GA WR/DB Marquez Callaway (UT commit 1/21/2016)

Honestly, and I don't want to belittle any individual, as a collective I'd find that group a little underwhelming.

Agreed.

In light of all the bigger fish who appeared to be considering us, on paper this group is less than most were expecting. Like always, its only speculation until they hike the football.

I would be very happy to get Callaway. It's the other receivers that are disappointing.

Losing out on V. Jones really sucks.

I'm amazed we're in with any decent WR prospects at all with the way our WR's play and the complete inability of our offense to get them the ball. Throw in CZA and yeah, I don't know why we'd expect a nice recruiting haul.

Completely agree

Last year everyone wanted to retain CZA at all cost, now he's garbage. Which one is it?

I wanted him to stay this last year for staff continuity, but I wasn't sold on the results on the field. Too many injuries to make any kind of conclusion. After watching the players rotate out needlessly this year, seeing players like Von, Josh Smith, and Malone get criminally underutilized, and the passing game struggle under the "passing game coordinator," I'm convinced. Too many gimmicks, too inconsistent, and anemic stats tell the story. But hey! At least they run block!

I know at times Dobbs is out there throwing bounce passes like Crompton or McNair, but at least a portion of that falls on Azzani's coaching of receiver's responsibilities, route accuracy, and YAC. Add in increased productivity when Butch spent extra time with the receivers, and it's clear to me there needs improvement at Azzani's position.

It's not CZA's fault that guys like North, Williams, Pig, etc. can't stay on the field, but it is definitely his fault Malone continues to play soft and scared and they run approximately 0 deep routes despite the fact they have one of the fastest and tallest WR groups in the country.

"Everyone" lol

He's not good. Now, he's had bad luck with a lot of his guys getting injured...but with the talent we have and the way they have collectively underperformed...its probably time to make a change.

Lol, no doubt you all are saying you didn't feel that way last year, but I bet we would find different if we could see the posts.

I'm not arguing one way or the other, I just find the hypocrisy hilarious.

I'll continue saying this until I'm blue in the face. This has to do more with Josh Dobbs than our receivers.

For some reason folks seem to want to make Josh a much better thrower than what he is. I'm not knocking him but he is what he is a tough competitor who will give everything he has but not a polished thrower and probably will never be. Much of that skill set you are born with and only so much can be coached. If it could be coached every QB prospect would become an All American.

Maybe you just suck at evaluating players?

I am not a football expert, but they need to get a little better with calling the pass plays that Dobbs can throw. He throws a great ball down the middle- hitches, skinny posts, seams. His inaccuracies are deep with a flat ball. They need to run some verticals just to loosen up the defense.

If Dobbs could just hit 5-8% more of his passes, then the offense could be unstoppable. Even if he hit one or two more deep balls, we could have another win or two. I hope the staff learned from the first 4 games this year and tweaks it a bit. Next year could be special.

Depends on what time of the month it is here on VN. One minute he does a good job and the next he sucks.

If he got canned and his replacement produced the same results, then some would be saying bring ZA back. VN is about as fickle as it gets.
