Guys - nothing has changed since the end of the season. It's not hard. Z stated to the media he was going after 4 receivers this cycle. They are loaded at slot, so they will probably be WR's. So one is a juco that is tall with good speed and catches in traffic with his hands (long arms) per the highlights. Tells you his future is the end zone and sideline routes. He needs to add 10-15 lbs. of muscle, learn the role, go play. That fills a need. That leaves 3 true freshmen to recruit and develop for the longer term.
I've personally seen very few people ever question CBJ player evaluations. Certainly not on Pearson, Weatherd and Owen Williams. Maybe a few star gazers on Mosely.
Are you serious? When Butch first offered Pearson, a ton of folks took one look at his ranking and offer list, and completely lost it. It wasn't till Von showed out all year that they shut up...looks like they would learn..but nope...here they are still *****in and moanin.
My only comment regarding this discussion is that you don't have to be a major stat-stuffer to be a 'difference maker', which seems to be the debated benchmark here. He doesn't need to be an 80 catch, 1000 yard guy to be worthy of his scholarship. If he's a threat that defenses have to respect down the sideline and if he can help us turn 3 into 7 with consistency, then that's absolutely worthwhile.
My point: not every recruit is going to be a star. Some are recruited just to fill roles (ex. Johnathon Johnson), and if this kid is good at what he's asked to do then that's easily worth a spot in this class.
Hoping this guy uses his frame better than Croom does. A different player but still that huge size. He won't be 235 but he could get up to 220.
Step aside CP! Not really but could you imagine the threat of another CP like reciever, Dobbs, and Hurd? Not to mention a pretty good TE in Wolf. Just need to fix our OL....
