'16 NC OG Landon Dickerson

Why is this guy not getting much run? If the old adage holds true you build championship teams from the inside out. Then Dickerson is the second most important recruit on campus this weekend. He is a high 4-5* OL, those don't grow on trees, but it seems VN is more concerned with Kongbo. Brown is without a doubt the most important recruit this weekend among the seeming undecided guys, but it seems like Dickerson should be next, ahead of Byrd and Kongbo. That is counting Warrior as a committed already.

Agree. Just a guess, but maybe some are subdued about him because the undercurrent is less positive. Also wonder if some basics of marketing are at play - Kongbo (name) is kind of like Maserati, whereas Dickerson is kind of like Chevrolet. Personally think Dickerson would be huge for us, hoping like crazy he decides to wear orange. Along with the rest of them (Warrior, Brown, Kongbo, & Byrd), of course.

I think Dickerson is a greater need than either Byrd or Kongbo, but I think we need them all. You always need great players. I hope loading up on projects earlier doesn't bite us in the butt. But it is understandable when you get guys like Byrd that come out of left field.

My opinion, it's all about what the coaches see as their biggest needs. We tend to look at a much smaller picture than they do. They know what they already have on the team far better than any of us, and they know who they're in on for next year. Maybe they like the pool of OL talent for next year better than they do the DE talent? Maybe there's unreported injury issues at DE. All I know is the coaches see a much bigger picture than we do.

Not sure I can trust the opinion of a guy with 13 posts :)

Let me say this first, I have no insider knowledge of any sort - this is just from what I think I read on this board. But that person said that Andrew Butcher would probably never play a down here, I think bc of an injury. So maybe thats the unreported injury at DE

staff is not as high on dickerson as his ranking suggests. they view him as a bit of a tweener that will likely play guard at this level. they like him but he is not the top priority unless another spot becomes available

He's absolutely a guard, but if you can find room, he's a guard you want on your team.

Maybe this explains the on-again, off-again relationship he has with us.

Makes sense. We kept seeing where he would more than likely be a guard and we seem to be pretty well set there.:good!:

true just saying warrior, byrd and dline is higher on the priority list with what we already have committed at ol. I think if brown or kongbo go elsewhere they will take moss over dickerson. would love to be able to take everyone but cbj wants to keep as many spots available as possible for a monster class in 17

I think the coaches are going to fill the remaining spots with what they see as our biggest needs, but if you somehow find room, I think Dickerson is a take all day long. Unfortunately, it's all about numbers.

I agree that Warrior, Brown, Byrd, and Kongbo are higher on the priority list. And unfortunately, we've run up against the numbers wall.

Wow! Didn't expect this, but it actually helps to make sense of his recruitment and why we are up and down his list. Sounds like the coaches have told him we may not have enough room at the hacienda, and they will have to see what happens after this weekend.
