'16 NC QB Austin Kendall (former UT commit)

This offense needs a serious running threat at QB who can throw the football.

Fact.

Not from hearing Debord speak and the type of QB's they recruit. Has to be a great passer with some mobility. Debord doesn't want his QB to be a prostyle guy who is pass first and has some mobility. But passing is much more important than a true running threat at QB. Our offense will go as far as the pass game takes us.

Say what you want everyone leaving and decommits not a good sign with the lack of depth UT has

I think the combination of Jake leaving, taking 3 qbs, and our continued pursuit of JG pushed him over the edge.

It's whatevs, hopefully the coaches lock down JG. He seems to be Debord's guy.

Not sure where you got this, but after reading the interview with DeBord I'm pretty sure this is exactly what he wants.

I guess we interpret things from that article differently. But him saying he prioritizes a QB as a passer over his running ability but if he can do both then great. Not sure how else that can be interpreted though. A good passer is top priority in his QB and if he has mobility it's then even better.

Oh... I think we agree then? He basically said passing was the bread and butter of a QB's game and that running, if the QB is skilled in that area, is the cherry on top, but not really necessary to be effective in the offense. I thought you were saying he prioritized the running.

Kendall was scared off because of competition. We don't need these type of kids. He can pout and cry all he wants, but we're going to be better off without him. We're going to sign a true competitor.

I don't know if he was "scared off", but it's obvious that he wanted a special kind of recruitment that doesn't exist at UT anymore under Butch. Gone are the days this program would hold their collective breaths and hope their "savior" wouldn't get cold feet or a wandering eye. We're a catch...and we're acting like it.

Oh Yea definitely. I must have just misinterpreted what you were saying. I have seen so many posts and continue seeing them with people saying we HAVE to have a true DT guy for this offense and that isn't true based off what Debord is saying. A QB can run all day but if he isn't a good passer our offense won't succeed. But if he is a great passer and can run then that is just an added bonus. So technically to this point Dobbs isn't the ideal QB for us until he becomes a better passer. But if he does then we will be hard to stop.

Lol. Classic RF.

If I had to guess Auburn might have intrigued him a bit. I just don't think we made much of a dent in the recruitment when he visited. I just find it hard to believe he'd leave UT for "competition" because he faces the same thing at UK.
