Back to Gary...
From Scout today. See what I mean:
Louisiana State Tigers Football, Basketball, and Recruiting Front Page
LSU is recruiting him as a 5-technique DE lol. Kid would be hard to contain at that spot. He loves Ed Orgeron.
Top 5 expected soon. Likely LSU as the leader with Michigan, Penn State, Alabama, and UGA. Auburn, Tennessee and Ohio State don't appear to be candidates for that list.

Hopefully he stays out of the SEC
I don't know why folks keep saying this. Its better for us in the long run if every elite player chooses to play in the SEC. The more elite recruits in the SEC. The more of them get drafted. The more attention it brings to future recruits to wanna play at an SEC school. A rising tide raises all boats. The more talent in the SEC, the more talent will come to Tennessee.
Don't think for one second that the prestige the SEC garnered from those 7 straight national titles didn't help Butch Jones get players during those his first two recruiting classes. Elite players wanna play in the SEC. And its good for us if year in year out all the top players chooose SEC schools. It means we'll be getting our share.

Hasn't worked out very well for UK and Vandy has it? Just curious, are you one of the guys who cheer for the SEC when they are playing other conferences? I'd rather guys like Gary go elsewhere than UGA or Bama where we have to play elite talent every year.
uhhh....yea. In the new playoff era, what fool doesn't root for the teams in their conference to kick the other conferences butts? I'm sure you don't want us to be like Baylor or TCU where we win our conference but don't make the playoffs because no one respects the conference we play in. There is a reason the SEC champ had the #1 seed in the playoff last year. There is a reason that in the pecking order of 1 loss teams during the BCS era, the SEC team almost always got in. At the end of the day, conference strength is vitally important if you wanna win national titles.
The dominance of Georgia and Alabama helps Tennessee. If you wanna be the best, your always gonna have to beat the best. No need to whine and cry about other SEC teams being dominant as well.

I guess all that SEC dominance has helped Vandy, UK, Arky and Mizzou with recruiting huh?
It also hurts Tennessee because if they are in that position and we aren't, it helps them and hurts us. It's a double edged sword.
