Of course nobody should be believed just because they live in the same town, but that isn't exactly the situation here. Many of the accounts posted in here are backed up by newspaper articles (e.g., the link below about Darel being kicked off the team). Therefore, some of it is a proven fact unless you don't believe the News Sentinel.
Many of the statements are not what somebody heard but first hand accounts. Since this is a discussion board and this particular discussion is about a UT recruit, I think the information is pertinent.
Now, having said that, I totally agree there is no reason to bash a kid and call him names. I have not posted non-football items that have happened in the school that weren't relevant or I heard as a "rumor", and trust me, there is plenty of material from the rumor mill. I get the impression that everybody thinks the Powell community is out to get Darel for some reason and we post every negative item we possibly can. I truly don't get why people think that, wouldn't we want him to succeed and the majority of us do - it only helps him and Powell football. Maybe that is due to the minority that take it too far and the entire community is being lumped together.
If you have read the entire post, you will see that I for one have posted positive items I've seen from Darel as well. I hope this year is truly different from the previous and time will tell.
As I said previously, I will continue to post what I personally observe during practice and games for those that are interested in his development. Of course, you can choose to discount it or believe it, it doesn't really matter to me
This has got to be one of the craziest threads on the board that has gone so many directions. For that reason, it is certainly an entertaining thread with so many view points and opinions.
Hope you aren't referring to me in your comments above. If so, just ignore me and that solves that problem.
