'16 TN ATH Darel Middleton (Tennessee signee)

SIAP, but are we still considering this guy committed. I know it's in the tread title, but I wasnt sure if we pulled his offer and told him we were definitely still wanting him but we needed to see him mature or something.

Kid definitely has the ability and frame for SEC ball, hope he can get it together no matter what. So many kids today don't make it, hope he can do it
I don't think anyone's completely sure, but right now I'd say we are in a cautious wait and see mode.

Not much to say from tonight's practice. It was fairly low key. Didn't do anything great or anything bad. I did feel sorry for the scout team trying to block him. It looks like he's playing 5th graders.

I should have mentioned that I saw Darel cutting up with the HC last night. He squirted him with a water bottle and then the HC chased him around the field.

That tells me that he has started off on the right foot with the new coach and they have a good relationship. Maybe that is what Darel needs and the HC can keep him on the straight and narrow. If Darel respects his HC, I would think that will cause him to not want to disappoint.

Well, believe it or not, Darel quit before practice tonight. He was asked to play TE instead of WR and he said no. That lead to an argument and he left.

Who knows if this is permanent, but he's incognito tonight. Good grief.

UPDATE: my son said the HC had a team meeting and told them he had to kick Darel off the team.

Truly sad.

Thank you for the update. Pretty self-explanatory.

I expected him to last until atleast the first game. I'm not surprised he got kicked off. I hope this cancer never comes here. He hasn't learned a thing

This is like strike 4 of questionable acts from this kid and he's not even started his junior year yet. Good riddance kid. Trying his absolute hardest to piss away an opportunity so many on that team would kill for..

See ya buddy.

We need to just delete this thread so we can spare some of the over the top comments this kid will receive in the thread lol. Sucks for the kid, but he keeps doing it to himself.

I only asked if he was playing this year at Powell because IMO it would kind of tell how bad his situation really is/was. IF the coach at Powell is allowing Darel to play this year, obviously it's probably not as bad a situation as some have made it out to be. IF he is not playing or had to transfer in order to play football as a SR, it could be as bad or worse than discussed.

Effective yesterday afternoon at the start of practice, Darel Middleton has been excused from the Powell High School football team. Coach addressed the team immediately after an incident with Darel and stated "He will not be back." Let's recap for all of you who think Powell folks are "bashing" this kid. Darel has never completed an off season in any sport at Powell. He has made the basketball team twice and been kicked off twice by two different coaches. Powell FB has had four coaches in four years. Darel has been either suspended/kicked off or both by ALL four coaches. He showed up this year three days before the dead period begging to play FB. New coach gave him the chance. During last week's two-a-days, Darel missed Thursday and Friday to play in an AAU BBall tourney in NC. He has never participated in any mandatory team meetings, fundraisings to pay his fees, workout sessions and can't even complete the most critical of summer sessions - two-a-days. Players also report that Darel continues his habit of showing up high - when he shows up at all. So there you have it. For all of you who doubted, does this sound like a typical teenager to you?? Would you want your son doing all the right things while this kid behaves any dang way he wants? He had to attend summer school this year, is already a year behind in school so if his academics don't trip him up believe us when we tell you his behavior(s) will! His twitter now quotes "Momma said they just trying to mess up your future". This is an entitled duo who not only want but expect special treatment from everyone. I hope that has played itself out once and for all for the sake of the young men who do the right things on and off the field and in the classroom.

Thank you for the summary HFC. I am not sure that there is much more that can be said to try and defend this type of behavior. I had been pulling for the kid, but it definitely appears as if he has a long way to go. I wish him success in turning his life around.

Yeah, it looks like hitting bottom may be the only thing that helps this kid. I had removed him from my 2016 class a while ago, but had hoped he could work out his issues. Hate seeing instate kids waste their talents.

I hate it when people just hate on a kid, but enough is enough.

This kid is going to end up screwing away all his chances if someone doesn't grill his ass soon-- that is of course if he hasn't already destroyed any chance he has of making it.

I am officially no longer viewing Middleton as a part of the 2016 class. Damn this sucks...

I'm sorry and some or many of you may disagree with me, but it all stems from home. As we see, his mom apparently feels entitled as well, and is probably how she raised her child. Very, very sad!
