'16 TN LB Tim Hart (FORMER UT commit 6/26/15)

It is just what recruiting has become. Kids shop themselves around and coaches started doing the same. I don't like it but I understand it is the way the game of recruiting is played now.

I agree, its a fine line.... I would say they need an early signing peeiod But they pretty much already have it with ees. Guess they could have it in late Sept

Free release from NLI if HC leaves

Only for year they sign

Is that the only way they get free released? What if their position coach resigns/leaves the program?

It is a slippery slope. The best way to fix the problem is for recruits to protect themselves by having multiple viable options. The "honor" system goes both ways.

Position coach Shouldn't be reason a kid chooses a school. The odds they play 4 years for same position coach is very low anyway

Having multiple Options in this landscape is very hard to do as time goes by. A kid that decides in August to commit might have 20options while that same kid that all of sudden has to decide closer to NSD only has a few options.

10 years ago nearly every team was wide open with spots at this time of year. Now most programs worth their salt are almost full

He has every schoolittle does. It was 3 or 4 years ago one went down bad in particular and coaches were not even allowed at the school it took year half to get where coaches could even step footo at school. It happens. When u r paid 4 miles a year to win big and given a short leash to produce or be fored. Come on guys u can't want national titles and not be a little messy

You pedigo'd that one pretty good. :)

So, do I have this right?

In December we gripe about how mean our coach is.

In January we rock the bowl and restart the hype machine.

In February we praise our coach for the awesome recruiting class.

Through spring and summer camp we become conviced that our coaches and players can win it all.

By late August we need to fire the S/C coach for getting our players broken.

By October we want to fire our head coach and/or hate our players.

By late November we start to think maybe he's an OK coach and the team is decent after all, but we need a bit more quality recruiting.

And here we are in December obsessing about how mean he is...ad nauseum infinitum.

That about sum it up?

Yep :good!:

I say we close with Hill,Corley,Warrior and one of either Brown or Hardiman. Staff has really turned their focus toward those core of players. Also look for some late offers to continue to go out on the offensive line. Look for others to be told to look elsewhere as well. We are recruiting at a fever pitch and if everything lines up we could have a monster finish

Haven't heard much about Corley. I thought he was a pretty heavy MSU lean?

Too much coaching turnover. People would be crying about kids getting locked into to schools and all their coaches leaving.

It's fine the way it is now. Everyone involved just needs to understand the game they are playing.

They have it in basketball and coaches leave that profession too. Most of the time schools release the kids in that situation.

I will believe Hart is kicked to the curb when he officially drops us. Butch has made people mad at MUS once, I'm not sure he wants to do it again.

How many spots do we have for this class? I've heard the number is now 22.

I've been saying we find a way to sign 24-25+ for a long time. I think the original number was 18.

Departures including Kyle Oliver and Jac Bruce have increased the number. I believe we are at 21+ already. Any departures between now and next summer would add to the number we could sign.

Can't remember where I read/heard it (maybe coach Matthews said on his show), but I remember reading recently that the staff is thinking 20, though they probably could make room for 22.

Sounds like they want to save some room for next year's class if they can't land ballers. It's a luxury we have now that we didn't when Butch came in.

The original number was 18-20, which jumped to 22 with the Bruce and Oliver departures.

Hubbs and others have said we're unlikely to exceed 20-22, unless we have special opportunities. The 2017 class is too strong and we have an excellent chance to pull in top-shelf talent then.
