'16 TN LB Tim Hart (FORMER UT commit 6/26/15)

I wonder why so many Memphis peeps turn towards the west SEC teams. I grew up outside of Memphis..played SYS and grew up all Vols

Schools like Ole Miss and Arkansas recruit TN and especially the Memphis area every year. They don't pick and choose when it's worth their time. It's just something they always do. I think that's why it pays off for them.

I was talking more about why so many people in West TN end up non Vols fans.

There has been that divide for years and years. It's one of the things Butch said he was going to repair when hired. UT would be powerful in Memphis again, with the fans and the recruits. I'm sure there are a lot of reasons fans pull for one school or another. Distance, family, local TV, and many more.

Is there any actual evidence he has been told to look around or is this just something inferred from his twitter account? It seems to me it could hurt recruiting in Tennessee particularly because of how late in the process it is. I doubt this is true.

Butch has done it before. You can bet he'll do it again. I'm not saying it's right, but he won't hesitate to dump a commitment no matter how long he's been committed.

If you were paid $4M/yr and staying in that role meant you had to win and win often, you would probably do some cutthroat things at times too.

Butch can be a nice, great guy who gives every underdog a chance and rescues kittens, or he can stay the head football coach at UT. There will just sometimes be situations where a prospect will be left at the alter so to speak. It's an ugly aspect of the business, but with the money involved for all and the incredibly high expectations, I don't think it will go away. Maybe an early signing period would be beneficial?

For those that care about rankings - Hart is the 16th ranked prospect in the state of TN according to the 247 Composite rankings.

Unless I missed on someone it looks like there are 3 commits who have not taken an official visit and don't show one scheduled to UT. Hart, Pope, and Brooks.

If that's the case they have pushed him for a blue shirt and not just an outright gitshirt.. Pope won't take an official because of proximity and Brooks might come later in the month although his injury could set him up for a blue/gray shirt situation

Proximity won't matter. TKjr took an official and Ut has plenty to give out this year.

Being in Memphis, there are many fans here. They have certainly become more visible in the last 2 years. I have had people say things to me several times when wearing apparel out. I was running one Saturday in my neighborhood with a UT beanie and a guy had stepped out of his house and gave a Go Vols. People are more proud when the team succeeds.

If you get out of Cordova you will see more fans on a more regular basis.

I guess you could say Butch helped him. If Butch didn't drop him, he wouldn't have gone to Rutgers.

Dude was a 4 star recruit. He didn't need any help getting into Rutgers.
Jones did him dirty. Period. Allowed the kid to spend a weekend at an all-star event, hanging with other UT commits, repping the big orange the whole time, and them dropped him the next week.

We don't know all the facts of what happened with Ford or Hart for that matter.

On Ford tho, I will say if he couldn't make it at Rutgers I doubt he would have made it at UT

If we did not drop him then no Kyle Phillips. We lose guys like that and don't win games then you will want to fire the coach. You either build a program for championships or you don't. It's a business.
