Just a quick update. I spoke to 3 different people last night at the BA v. Ravenwood scrimmage who are very close to the Mathews. They all individually had the same take on the situation. I understand that this was second hand info to me so as always TIFWIW:
1. Bryce is truly wide open at this point and no one thinks he will be pulling the trigger soon
2. He is closest to Herb Hand at Vandy and really likes him, however he doesn't like anything else about Vandy. The campus, facilities, stadium and Coach Mason all leave him unimpressed so unless something changes they appear to be a long shot at this point
3. Tennessee, Ole Miss and Alabama all have his attention and they would be his top 3 at this point
4. They very much appreciate the A&M offer but he is not a lock...dad is not pushing him to A&M at all and in fact they would be 4th in order at this point
5. A little disappointing to me was that one of the friends I spoke with felt like Tennessee isn't pushing as hard as Ole Miss who seems to recruiting him the hardest...I would think he would be a huge priority for us at the OT position but that's why I get paid the big bucks to post on free message boards
As a side note...BA looked VERY sloppy during the scrimmage. It was only a half and I counted 22 penalties at one point at least 6 of which nullified first downs. Both Bryce and Ryan looked great on the o-line and BA just had too much talent for Ravenwood. Van Jefferson stands out...he appears to glide so effortlessly. The BA CBs did a pretty good job on him...I was doing a lot of talking but I think he had one really sweet leaping one handed catch for a short gain and then did have one 45-50 yard catch on a jump ball/terrible pass. He did not score but was a very effective decoy on Ravenwood's lone score last night.
