'16 TN TE/LB Austin Pope (UT commit 6/15/15)

Pope did say that Gronk was his fav pro TE... Kinda disappointed he didn't say Witten.

Witten's happily married with kids...Gronk dates a different starlet or fitness model every week...just sayin.

Just curious, but is this based on solely your opinion or did you hear this from someone close to his recruitment? I've always wondered if coaches discuss a players ranking that they are recruiting. I'm sure they don't really care but I'd bet they take a look.

A bit of both. His film from last year was good but the film of him this summer is much better. For this staff its more about fit. Theyd rather take a guy that might be rated lower but fits their system better.

Still take Brooks?

Some are saying thats still the plan. I just dont see it. Unless we have 10 to 12 leave before summer ends.

We won't have that many leave by the end of summer this year, but I bet we do have 7-10 leave for one reason or another (turn pro early, homesick, grades, off-the-field issues, dog-cussed by Zack Azzani) between now and this time next year.

Maybe but I am not sure the numbers will be quite that high moving forward. SR and junior draft eligible numbers will be larger now as we move forward so it will lessen the amount of kids you have to have the tough "process" conversation with. Butch for the most part has flipped the roster to majority of his recruits that he vetted. So there will be fewer kids he would want to process. i would say 5 or less would be more of the norm each year to expect to leave for some reason not related to graduation or NFL draft

Nationwide the trend is that 25-30% of signees don't make it to the 2nd year with the program that signed them. I'm basing my prediction on that. The attrition we had last year fell right in line with that as well. I hope you're right and that we do start to see more stability with the roster and come in under that average.
