'17 CA DT/OL Jalen McKenzie

Waiving out of state tuition is not an ncaa violation. It happens all the time. They just can't drop tuition below the in state cost to show preferential treatment.

Tenn doesn't have a policy of waiving out of state tuition for very many students at all if any. Can't just waive it for an athlete and That's is why the NCAA wouldn't allow it

This is true. Me and two of my older siblings graduated high school in Tennessee and received in-state tuition. My younger brother however went to elementary/middle/and part of high school in Tennessee before moving to Texas with my parents for his final 2 years of high school. Tennessee would not grant him in state tuition even though the majority of his schooling was done in Tennessee and 3 of his siblings had already gone through UT with in-state tuition.

I'm arguing he should take the scholly offer at UCLA over a PWO spot at UT, but if the argument is solely about money, then I have to argue its not a significant enough amount to matter to one at the salary level of Reggie McKenzie.

Oh I agree. A couple hundred grand isn't a big deal.

As long as we are talking and not actually spending I think its fairly innocent, lol.

The only thing you listed that's is accurate is meals and a walk on would have the option to purchase meals I am certain

The other things would all be available to a walk on if they made the appropriate sections of the roster

Pretty sure walk-ons get the same meals included now too. Rule passed a year or 2 ago.

This happens literally all the time lol. I graduated in 2013 and knew many people, both walk-ons and regular students, who had tuition waived. Thats how alabama poaches so many students from tennessee schools. The ncaa does not dictate what individual schools can charge for tuition for an individual student. It's only an improper benefit if the school charges an athlete less than your average run of the mill student. And most of those students pay in state tuition.

People like Reggie Mackenzie can go broke just as easily as pro basketball players. Making decisions that cost you >$100k when you have the option not to, is how you do that.

What does this mean?

Literally thousands of people every year chose to spend more money on their child's education to send them to certain schools and are fine financially.

I took it to mean that even people who have been as successful As RM can go broke if they aren't careful with their money.

Ya gotta spend it on something. I just spent 12 grand on 18 three box cases of upper deck exquisite football cards. I wanted to see what I'd get in each pack. The crazy part, I don't even collect cards.

It happens.

I seriously doubt if anyone bats an eye if Bill Polian decides to spend 100k extra on his child's education.

Attach a pic and this post might reach "cherry oak desk with a beach view" babyavi status.

If RM needs a financial advisor I'd be glad to take him as a client just as soon as I finish my certifications.
