Looking at reports on gametimect.com, Lewis has apparently started the last 5 games -- all wins -- and played well. He completed 7 of 10 passes for 245 yards & 5 TDs last week. Two weeks ago he hit 12 of 15 passes for 225 yards & 3 TDs (1 INT) and ran for 100 yards on 11 carries. Three weeks ago, Lewis was 5 of 10 for 185 yards & 3 TDs (1 INT) in the 1st half. And in the previous 2 games, Lewis was a combined 8 of 15 passes for 240 yards & 2 TDs while rushing for 90 yards & 1 TD on 12 carries.

C.J. Lewis certainly has a lot of weapons around him with a trio of Power 5 commits at the skills positions at Cheshire Academy, but he also knows how to get them the ball. During a blowout win against Worcester (Mass.) Academy, the 6-foot-3 1/2, 201-pound Tennessee commit displayed good arm strength and he spun the ball well. He was accurate with his throws down the field, and he made quick decisions. He was patient in the pocket and also displayed good touch.

Lewis said a big reason for his success late in the season is the work he does off the field with preparation.

Connecticut's No. 1 QB and Tennessee commit C.J. Lewis discusses on-field development - Football Recruiting - Scout

Cheshire Academy, coached by Dave Dykeman, is playing in its sixth bowl in the last seven years. The one year the Cats missed out was 2015. One year later, the Cats, featuring blue-chip recruits Tarik Black, C.J. Lewis and C.J. Holmes, are red hot. After opening the season 0-2 — including a 33-30 defeat at the hands of Choate — Cheshire Academy has won seven straight, averaging 45 points in the process.

Both TOS are saying they are going to likely move on. No reason to offer Hooker the other day if that isn't the case. We'll see.

This. Writing is on the wall

I agree with both of you. We have Bubba & Hooker on our minds now. I would say we have moved on from Lewis. We also are looking at the Urich kid who's committed to USCe but rumors are he wants out of that committment after committing earlier on this season.

Guys, here are the QB possibilities for 2017 if we don't end up keeping Lewis:

1. Bubba Thompson- offered, 3* from Alabama(Bubba Thompson, McGill Toolen, Pro-Style Quarterback)
2. Hendon Hooker- committed to VT, offered, 3* from North Carolina(Hendon Hooker, Dudley, Dual-Threat Quarterback)
3. Jay Urich- offered but currently committed to USCe, 3* from South Carolina(Jay Urich, Wren, Dual-Threat Quarterback)
4. Alex Barker- not officially offered, 3* from Delaware(Alex Barker, Caravel Academy, Pro-Style Quarterback)
5. Robbie Blosser- not officially offered, 3* from California(Robbie Blosser, Salesian, Pro-Style Quarterback)
6. Seth Washington- not officially offered, 3* from Texas(http://247sports.com/Player/Seth-Washington-87948)
7. Brandon George- not officially offered, 3* from Oklahoma(http://247sports.com/Player/Brandon-George-86290)
8. Shabazz Telfort- not officially offered, 3* from Florida(http://247sports.com/Player/Shabazz-Telfort-89345)
9. Dresser Winn- not officially offered, 3* from Tennessee, Dresden High School class 1A(http://247sports.com/Player/Dresser-Winn-87160)

That list is about as appealing as a Rick Barnes recruiting class.

Not much to choose from for sure. If we can keep Lewis I think we would be better off than most of the guys I listed above.

The only one I might would rather have is the Urich kid but he would possibly be the hardest to get as well because of already under committment although rumors show that he's not so sure of staying at USCe.

This is a pitiful list. I know we have Butch and the "Best" coaching staff in America for another year, but this type of recruiting will set us back again for the next coach.

I'm all for not taking one in '17. Get one of the stud QBs in '18. JMO.

That would be a good possibility as well. However, as of right now we've not offered some of the big name QB's for 2018 except for Fields which is the 4th ranked QB overall for 2018. Penix Jr. is #31st ranked overall.

James Foster is the #17th dual threat overall. Dakereon Joyner is the #9th ranked dual threat overall. Those are the ones that we have officially offered scholarships. The rest of them I have listed for 2018 some have scholarship offers from UT & some don't.

All I see is 3.....3.....3....3

You're eyes are not deceiving you at all because they're all 3* QB recruits. :p That's all that's left are 3* & 2* QB recruits so it is what it is.

I'm like somebody else said if we let Lewis go just wait until 2018 & go after one of the better QB's because there are more & better QB's in that class anyhow.

Don't take one in 17. Hope to Lawrence or Jones in 18. Full court press one of them.

I'm not trying to be negative but I don't think we will get either one of those guys. Lawrence would have to absolutely change his mind at the last minute from Clemson. Jones has his mind set on OSU I believe & I don't think he will change his mind.

It's going to have to be one of those other guys that I've mentioned in the Justin Fields thread. They don't rank real high except for Fields himself but one is the #22nd ranked QB overall. Go over to that thread & check it out to see what recruits I mentioned we're in the running for in 2018 as of right now. Thanks!

So you are good with possibly having only 2 QBs on the roster next year?

If nobody transfers we will have at least 3 even if we don't take one in the 2017 class. Dormady, JG, & Jones would be our 3 QB's plus as an emergency QB we would also have Jancek as the 4th. If somebody like Dormady or JG transfers then we would still in reality have 3 QB's.

We get one QB for 2017 that's just decent then we will be fine at the position but I also think we'll be alright too even if we don't sign one for 2017 & wait for 2018 & 2019.
