'17 FL WR Jacquez Jones (UT signee)

Yeah there's a star system so they can sell overpriced online subscriptions to goodens like you. Whether they pan out or not has absolutely nothing to do with stars. It has everything to do with coaching abilities. If they don't pan out Butch and Co will pay the price. We will be back at square one again and the sun will still come up tomorrow.

I don't buy their subscription. And it's used to track some of the best athlete's in the country. To monitor, compare, and even competitions. Saying that ranking players is foolish, is foolish. It would be like not ranking teams. These players make these teams better by their skill levels combined with coaching. You can waste your scholarships on guys who may never see the field, polishing turds, or be smart and take that gem that's already shining. The majority of the top teams, also have top ranked classes. Sometimes you see teams excel with with lower tire recruits, but it's usually a gimmicky team like Oregon.

Speaking of coaches coaching players up. We have yet to produce any production from throwing or catching. It's our 4 and 5* run game carrying the offense. In fact it seems every receiver besides Josh Smith has regressed every year. So I'm not very confident in who we have coaching up 3 stars at this point.

With all this said, I'm not saying this kid is a bust.

Back to back top5 classes have us sitting pretty right now. 20-25 ranked recruiting classes, usually leave us outside the top 25 in football rankings.

This thread is basically why I love this site, and rarely post, wrapped up with a bow.

I believe that regardless of star ranking a player has to fit the system that the coaches have emplaced. More important that class rankings, is how many players that we have offered, pursued diligently, and missed on. I believe the numbers are in Butch's favor when it comes to getting the guys he really wants. But that's just a guy with less than 50 posts opinion.

Now, I'm gonna have a couple cocktails, go down to SeaWorld and take my pants off, carry on.

I'm still waiting for the official text from Freak saying that we have a commitment.

Not sure if you're serious, but if you are you might want to check your settings. I sent one out right after it happened. :hi:

I'll check but the last text that I received was the one about the season opener being moved up.

This guy might be a 3*, but if your haven't checked out his highlights, you should. Kid's a playmaker! Late Boom, I like the pickup!

I only really know what I read on this board and a few others, but it is my understanding that a 3 star WR from the state of Florida is like a mid to high 4 star in most other states b/c of the talent they produce down there. Is this a flawed way of thinking, because when I hear Florida and wide receiver in the same sentence I get pretty excited

Technically, yes. The States of FL, GA, CA, and TX produce an inordinate amount of Div 1 signees every year, and those states probably make up a majority of NFL rosters. A lot of it is just based on population, but in the south HS football is still king.

Some of the smaller-profile schools target only the southern states because they think the talent there is so vast they are bound to pick up some pretty good scraps that SEC or other teams pass on.

What's a 5* WR from FL?

Yes, it's flawed.

While Florida has great talent, Recruiting sites don't use a sliding scale when grading a recruit. They project their potential impact in a college program.
