Surprise surprise we win another meaningless bowl now the sunshine pumpers come in full force expecting us to overachieve next season. Hate to break it to you but next year we will be less talented. He only got 9 wins including the bowl with all the talent we had this season. Next year we will be lucky to go 7-5 or 6-6. We blew out our opponent in the bowl game last season and we saw what happened after that so consider me not convinced.

Shouldn't you be busy screaming at the neighbor's kids or planning how to steal Christmas next year?

Blame coaching all you want, but players also need to perform. Yesterday our coaches put our players in position for 2 huge TD plays...both were dropped. Had we lost a close game, half the people here would have blamed the coaches.

Vs Vandy, coaches had us in position for an early pic6 which could have changed the game and put us clearly in control. But it was dropped. By that week, we were physically reeling and need those plays. Coaches can only do so much when missing half the original roster.

Our QB apologizes for his worst collegiate performance vs usce and it's the coaching. Coaches didn't fumble a handoff when Hurd quit on his team. The freshman did.

Look...Butch isn't perfect, but your blind or stupid if you can't acknowledge the progress he's made in a short time. Call me an excuse maker. I'm a big boy and can handle it. But when olinemen are having to play dt due to injuries and suspensions, i can't put that on Butch either.

Good post. You have to look at everything from the big picture. Butch has definitely made some interesting coaching decisions but he's not an awful coach.

Execution and injuries really factored in this year also.

Great post. I think overall butch has done a pretty solid job here. However i do agree that martinez and the dbs have been awful. If he is not fired then idk what the hell is going on.

So basically, coaches get a pass for everything? Since that's the case we will move along. Also, UGA played a freshman QB all year with a rookie head coach. How long has Butch been here? Wasn't Dobbs a senior this year? I promise you if Kirby loses to Vandy again it won't go over well with UGA fans. Also, UGA has one of the best OL coaches in country, which is the only reason I mentioned UGA in the first place (well that and the fact they are killing it recruiting unlike us). Their offense and OL is going to dominate with their current coaching staff. If we want to win the East, we better be ready to score points and stop their rushing attack. Sam Pittman is an unreal recruiter and coach, and Butch's right hand man Mahoney couldn't hold his jock strap. That's also the reason why our OL looks lost half the time. Dobbs and Kamara masked a lot of OL issues this year. We won't be so luckily next year unless we get an OL coach who can develop guys like Smith. Mahoney is a below average coach and recruiter.

I agree about mahoney dont like him at all. However i dont think as highly of pittman as you do. Georiga does have a solid class this year but honestly if they dont win next year that will go away quick. My whole point is that as a fanbase we trash butch jones when in reality we have come a long way. We beat florida this year for goodness sake. I think we all want what is best for tennessee but is another coaching change really the solution? Yes there are things butch needs to look at and correct but you could say that about almost every program.

I hope it doesnt continue. But honestly do we lose to either team with our actual roster this year? I know injuries happen and they dont excuse everything but we played these teams basically with equal talent with less game play expierence because of all the injuries. It was the perfect storm this year . I dont think we should fire butch if we go 8 and 4 next year eapecially with our schedule but thats just me.

And you can call this an excuse if you want, but exactly in what universe should be be expected to dominate the LOS in an sec game with ZERO DTs? Do we understand that DTs are hard to come by to begin with, but not having ANY healthy during a game is unheard of. DEs just physically can't dominate the DT position.

Butch has really improved the outlook of the class the last few weeks. Some recruits looking elsewhere for whatever reason has helped. There's only 2 or 3 left that are question marks......imo

Again, it's just my opinion. These 2 or 3 may be told to look elsewhere eventually , or they may be future hall of famers. I'm just going off how they're ranked and offer lists.

Lots of things to be disappointed in this year. It sure didn't go how we wanted it to but idk how anyone can expect the coaches to have a laboratory where they can genetically engineer DTs.

I'm done with arguing with those guys over it tho. Expanding the ignore list so everybody doesn't have to see me bickering with those guys every thread.

Don't confuse having the ability to reason with being happy about losing games. Everyone wants someone to blame. It's human nature. Often blame can be laid in various laps. That is true with this late season collapse. Many would say the mark of a great coach is what they do with weeks to prepare. Not gonna call Butch "great" , but 3-0 in bowls is a good sign that he can study and exploit weaknesses and prepare his team when he knows what he has to work with.

Don't waste your time. I knew after we would beat a mediocre Nebraska team they'd try to be fire up the hype train again. Let's just ignore the 2 crucial sec losses to South Carolina and freaking vandy we had no business losing and cancel them out with a meaningless Nebraska win.

Everyone knows we have zero DT help, but outside Shy, Kmac, and JuCos we have recruited freshman DT projects. Same is said for OT. At the end of the day, when you come to UT like Butch did, you have to overload your recruiting classes the first few years with OT, DT, DEs, and LBs. That's how you win in this league, but you have to overload with SEC level talent. Counting Mosley, we have recruited 3 4 star or above high school DT players in 4 years under Butch, that will not cut it in the SEC. Kongbo and Johnson make it 5 4 star or above DTs all together, but Kongbo has never played the position. KP is a DE and should be played as such. I believe Butcher is a DE as well, and he can't stay healthy.
