Me too but we as fans alumni whatever are going to have to support whom ever it is. I am notsaying that he is the answer but we are going to have it for however long it is and who knows what could happen next year.
I'd agree with that reasoning if we hadn't of been so bad against app state. We only won that game bc hurd fell on the fumble. The Georgia game was also luck too but we had many of our injuries by then
I support UT and the players bc I bleed orange. But I don't have confidence in this staff. I'll always be a die hard fan that's why I get so upset over us settling for mediocrity
Yeah so I think you should look at the team here. Our defensive leadership is terrible playerwise. Barnett nor Sutton were natural leaders and Maybin got hurt very early. That concerns me for next year also. Kirkland may be able to do this but hes gotta stay healthy. Offensively, hands down its John Kelly. I wanna point out Hurd proved to be a big distraction and I lay that on Butch. We cut him before SC we may have won that one.
Ditto I have sat here and cussed thrown stuff swore I would not watch again and I am right back. I want them back to what fulmer had where recruits checked UT first like they do bama now but we have a ways to go and we are getting better and there have been some rough spots no doubt and need changes to some personnel for sure
I guess all of you are content with Max 8 win seasons and losing to Vanderbilt and south Carolina.
The biggest problem UT has is the lack of donors to have the funds to chase a big fish. Say we fire Butch, then what? UT conducts a coaching search, settles for the third or worse option because no big fish coach wants to come here. We end up with an unproven coach, hoping he works out, but with no guarantee that he will. And the cycle begins anew. I want to see how Butch handles this offseason. If he makes the necessary changes, we might be okay. If he drags his feet, next year may very well be his last at UT.
Obviously my standards are higher if you're okay with us having mediocre coaches. The best thing Butch can do is ditch most of his assistants and bring in new ones. But he has shown he's stubborn already so he probably won't and that may end up being what gets him fired.Anyone who thinks his performance justifies firing him and getting ???? to come in and replace him is a drama queen who enjoys coaching searches.
Quit acting like your standards are higher than everyone else's. You sound foolish. I'm serious, you sound absolutely foolish.
My problem is, I still think we should have beat carolina and vanderbilt. The injuries didn't help but we still should have beat those 2. And.losing to them drastically changed our season they were huge losses we shouldn't have lost
Drastically? - would have went to SEC Championship game but lost to Bama and ended up 10-4 or 11-3. We are 9-4 and go into offseason with a win over Nebraska.
The reason coaching gets blamed is simple. Where is our depth? There are players on the roster that have not been developed. Whatever happened to Quay Picou? What about the JuCo recruit, Alexis Johnson? JuCo's are generally recruited because you expect them to see early playing time. There are enough D-Linemen on the roster to cover the injuries, but the players have not been developed like they should have. We saw the same problem with LBs when injuries occurred. And our DBs are notoriously underdeveloped. Truthfully, just about every position on our roster has underdeveloped players. It falls on our position coaches. And who hired the position coaches and has kept them employed? When you're the head coach, all roads, good and especially bad, lead to you.
I'm not calling for Butch's head(yet), but it's definitely time to shake some things up. And he needs to start owning his mistakes rather than relying on excuses. He's not getting paid millions of dollars to come up with excuses.
Great to good coaches would have had TN in ATL last 2.seasons with our roster.imoHow true. Just look at the last ten years. We now a coach who can recruit, keep players out of jail, educate players to become contributors to society, compete for SEC Championships in the future. It takes time to rebuild a Program from the ground up and that what had to be done when CBJ was hired. I am surprised that he has been able to accomplish what he has in the last four years. Couple that with the injuries suffered in 2016, the Program has progressed to become a very respected. It will get better. The foundation is solid. We should be thankful we are where we now stand.
