Why do we offer guys like this? Its obvious he'll be cut loose down the road if we have better players wanting in. I just don't get why we offer kids like this so early in the process.

It's not fair to the kid, that's for sure...

Every football program out there cut recruits loose. That's part of recruiting. To act like Tennessee is the only school that does it is absurd.

Not sure that any of us know the context and conditions under which this young man committed. So to cry fair or unfair is moot.

Personally I don't feel CBJ and staff would ever leave players out to dry. Personally I feel there is a greater likelihood that CBJ and staff are straight up with the student athletes regarding the "solidness" of the commitment.

In business there are verbal contracts and there are really, really difficult business decisions to be made. It stinks, especially to be on the losing end, but it's business.

Wah. This is recruiting in major college football. You aquire pieces until you find better ones. If you don't take these early ones and miss on the ones later, then you have nothing. Either live with it or don't.

If early commitments from marginal prospects are accepted with conditions and/or goals, I have no problem with it. I, however, an not a fan of the shotgun approach to recruiting or picking up women in bars... That's how STDs are spread.

Where has it been reported that he was "cut"? Where are you getting this from?

He was not "cut", the poster probably looked at the 247 summary part on their site and it only shows so many of the commitments (the highest ranked). Burnam was not on that URL, honest mistake because I saw the same thing and then remembered you have to click to see the entire list.

FWIW, RC said in the Recruiting chat that we would take 25, and four of those would be LBs. The wild card in this is who does the staff think those four are, some of the guys we have recruited could possible start out at a S position depending upon how their body responds and skill set. We are still recruiting Henderson hard, and some see him as a safety, others as an OLB.

Lots of moving pieces.

I have little concern about cutting kids loose. I have more concern about how some people post about it. If it was your kid, youd want a little more class from us.

I think the key word in your own statement was "if"...I think that could apply to any recruit we offer. We've let 4*s walk when it applies...it happens.

Just saw where Oregon offered last week. No one is talking about this kid, but 247 shows a pretty good offer list.
