'17 IN QB Hunter Johnson (Former UT Commit 8/23/15) (Clemson commit)

Lots of competition he doesn't want any part of. It's all good! Wish him the best. Hope we get Clemson soon!

Or... Maybe a kid just changed his mind and threw things open again.

What's the point of burying a kid for doing what he thinks is best just because he dares to look around?

I don't need to answer your question when others have already answered.

But your question doesn't even apply to the argument. You're asking for out of state guys that have made an impact as a bearing for how successful Butch has been recruiting.

That leaves out guys like Preston Williams and Darrell Taylor who were huge recruits that are just waiting their turn. Get a grip, man.

My argument is that Butch's success was due to a great in state year and many legacies that heavily recruited.

In your opinion, is recruiting momentum gaining or losing steam right now?

This staf needs to be all over tee higgins. Bc he commited right after johnson thats who im worried about not only for football but for rick barnes needs to be #1 target with north leaving croom and malone senior year huge target

Probably realized how deep we are at QB. If Trevor in the 2018 class wants in, we'll be fine as long as we keep the QBs we have and JG.

I agree, and no I am not saying "didn't want anyway", just that we are in need at other positions. At least he did not go to another SEC school also.

I've got a million things to be concerned about and a 2018 quarterback that's afraid of what's in front of him ain't one of them. If this guy did sign he would most likely not seen the field till 2019 best case scenario.

How has he been mediocre when he is essentially pulling in the same level of athlete he has the last two years?

Because he can't take 272929272 kids?

GTFO.

Lol. You need to erase 2 of the 4 stars you're considering with this statement. DCB and Kongbo are gone.

It's Butch's fault he flipped? It was mentioned that Guarantano being in the class before him probably had something to do with it. ******n Butch for recruiting so many talented QBs. Wouldn't want to hurt little baby Hunter's feelings. Or maybe you are saying it is Butch's fault for not holding onto him. Jesus, its a shame we are the only school that 18 year old kids flip from. ******nit Butch.

Eat a snickers.

I'd be lying if I said we were gaining steam.

I've been around long enough to know that this game of musical chairs happens around this time every year. It'll even out for us, like it always does.

Last year: 30+ players.
Now: 18 players.

Good comparison

Are you serious? News for you, but we can't take 30 players every year. Coming into this class we knew it would be only a little over 20 players. The fact that he has the same average rated commit means that the players in this class are is on the same level with the last two. There is only less of them.

This is fairly easy to understand.

Hunter was an awesome pickup for the staff, but to be honest his commitment never made a ton of sense to me. He's the #1 QB in the nation and would be heading to a school where his strengths wouldn't be utilized.

I bet Dabo sold him on the idea that Butch's offense only works with QBs like Guarantano and that JG would be the #1 guy for basically Hunter's entire career at Tennessee.

Says the coach who has a QB with 200 more yards rushing and 50 more attempts than our QB

Lol are you comparing Butch to Saban?

Saban gets whoever he wants and finished top 3 every year. All of yall seem content with a top 25 class.

My point was, you can't just take away in-state players when evaluating recruiting classes as if that somehow makes them less significant or necessarily an easier pull. The job that Butch Jones did in landing Drew Richmond was extraordinary and not any less significant just because Richmond was (technically) in-state.

Still comfortably an 89 average star rating.

2014 89
2015 89
2016 89

Absolutely nothing has changed other than the amount of scholarships available.

Did you see how many double numbers that were on the field this year?

Players that played significant minutes were sharing numbers because the roster is so full.

You need a new hobby.

I totally agree, so our rating should be much higher than a class of 30. Butch should be cherry picking players. Do you think he's been able to cherry pick?

#1 QB in the country that has been committed for 6-8 months and was just at UT this past weekend and then all of a sudden flips to Clemson? Nice try with your sarcasm but its a pretty big deal.

2017 dude! Wrap yourself around it! Guarantano's dying to be here and you're pretending this is the end. Just because you desperately want that ain't making it happen. You're a doom john and you've been shut off. :wavey:

Also why are you constricting the parameters to 2 years? This dude named Josh Dobbs is from Georgia.

Smh, we have like 2 legacies contributing: TKJr and Berry.

Ok. Josh Dobbs is the only Butch player to really contribute from that class. Jalen-Reeves Maybin, Cam Sutton, Josh Smith were already committed to Dooley when Butch got the job. He did a good job keeping them in the fold.
