'17 IN QB Hunter Johnson (Former UT Commit 8/23/15) (Clemson commit)

Ok. Josh Dobbs is the only Butch player to really contribute from that class. Jalen-Reeves Maybin, Cam Sutton, Josh Smith were already committed to Dooley when Butch got the job. He did a good job keeping them in the fold.

Reaching.

Still comfortably an 89 average star rating.

2014 89
2015 89
2016 89

Absolutely nothing has changed other than the amount of scholarships available.

Did you see how many double numbers that were on the field this year?

Players that played significant minutes were sharing numbers because the roster is so full.

You need a new hobby.

If a guy was able to attain an 89 rating with 30 players, it should be much higher with only 20. That's basic math.

So Butch gets credit for some but not others? There is this crazy thing called "development" that happens after a player comes to campus.

Wiesman, Foreman, Vickers.

You do know that he is competing against other schools......recruiting is not finished for this season yet

Good one. Not sure how I'm going to recover from that zinger. I hope Butch is as happy with this mediocre class as you are( hint: he's not)

Question, how do you know this class will end up mediocre? Do you personally know Butch and talk to him on a daily basis?

Or... Maybe a kid just changed his mind and threw things open again.

What's the point of burying a kid for doing what he thinks is best just because he dares to look around?

Or maybe the kid (or kid's family, or kid's coaches) should think about holding off on committing when such "kid" is in his position (#1 QB); and probably not commit at the tender "kid" age of 16 or 17. Because he doesn't have to.
I'm not out to bury the kid either, but if you are unable to commit to your word without (and how many 16 to 18 year olds are) then maybe its best move not to commit 2 years in advance.
Easy for me to say since I was never in this position but Emmitt Gooden committed like this to us and then quickly backed off that soon after. I can at least respect that he had the guts to say he committed too early and wanted to look around to be sure.

If you're concerned about 2016 I can somewhat understand it due to the recent decommits and the later than usual formulation of the class and the uncertainty of the staff, but freaking out over an obvious immature 16 or 17 year Justin Beiber is ridiculous.

You do realize that Richmond was committed to Ole Miss this time last year? Kirkland was committed to Michigan, Justin Martin and Phillips were heavy LSU leans right? Do you even follow recruiting?

Oh, we didn't even know John Kelly existed yet.

Also why are you constricting the parameters to 2 years? This dude named Josh Dobbs is from Georgia.

Smh, we have like 2 legacies contributing: TKJr and Berry.

Other recruits didn't know the legacies wouldn't contribute this early when they committed. They didn't commit because they thought Bates would play as a FR. Kids who saw Bates play, for example, knew he was a top 50 caliber player and wanted to play wirh athletes like him period.

Totally. Check the long division and fractions section of third grade math.

If Butch was as awesome as everyone thinks, this class would have Hardman, Kyle Davis, Holyfield, etc. already locked up.

The perfect storm ( legacies, rare year of instate talent) made Butch look Saban-esque.

Double numbers don't mean you have more players, it means kids want the same number. 85 is 85, whether everyone is numbered 1-85 or 1-42.

The instate talent is only getting better. This year is a down year but 2017 is ridiculous.

You do know Mckenzie(legacy) was the sole reason Kirkland committed, and the other 3 were in-state players.

Your obsession with discounting legacy players and players who happen to live between arbitrary borders is fascinating. And the notion that Kirkland ONLY committed because of KM is laughable.

I thought Cam committed after Dooley was canned...

1. Butch is the best recruiter. It doesn't get much better than him. Once he gets a national title, or sec championship getting a top 5 class becomes much easier. Saban recruits good because he has multiple championships. 2. You can not sign over 25 players every year. He front loaded his classes because Tennessee was Vanderbilt talent wise before butch got here. the rebuilding he is doing is phenomenal.

The "perfect storm" is 2017 when many experts predict Tennessee will easily have the top class in the country.

Even with this decommitment.

He will continue to look Saban-esque at least through 2018.

Get used to it.
