'17 IN QB Hunter Johnson (Former UT Commit 8/23/15) (Clemson commit)

We're off track for the original discussion and point though. It's not Luck vs. Watson. I couldn't care less. I simply said Watson will be the #1 pick next year barring injury. It's as much of a lock as Luck being the #1 pick was in 2012.

If healthy yeah Watson will be top pick but never really know what happens. This time last year nobody was saying Goff and Wentz as 1 and 2

Goff was an early favorite for #1...yeah, Wentz came out of nowhere.

This guy is really helping Clemson recruit right now. Too bad we couldn't keep him in the fold when we had him...

Nah. He'll have a college career similar to Kirk Cousins. That's his pro comparison.

Yeah and Marquez North will get drafted no later than the 4th round. Dobbs is better than Watson. Hurd is the best RB college football has ever seen. Mecole Hardman will be a Vol on NSD, book it. Stats dont matter except whenever it furthers your agenda. Butch sucks, the staff sucks, basically the team sucks except Dobbs.

Hmmm, JG or HJ? Who would be better in our offense? JG obviously. The recruiting analysts might think otherwise but HJ doesn't impress me very much to be a 5* talent.

Honestly, was never a fan of Hunter Johnson as much as I tried. I think some fans on here tried to justify his incredulous amount of interceptions thrown when he was a commit. The only reason it was nice having him around is because he boosted our recruiting rankings and made us more appealing at the time. Overall, I think his ratings have more to do with having a strong arm and not having much other elite talent in the 17' class at QB.

Nonetheless glad he dropped out and moved to Clemson. Though we are most likely on the outside looking in, doing so has kept us in the sweepstakes for Trevor Lawrence who I would much, much rather have. An average shot at landing him is a better position to be in then having Hunter Johnson and no chance.

Wow your second paragrapgh is a little shocking. It seems when a player decommitts from Tennessee, he is met with the obligatory statements like you have made. Along with ones like oh we are in on better players or we passed on him or we didnt want him anyway. Why is it that the same recruiting guys who rank Lawrence so high are right on him but they are wrong about Johnson?

Glad he signed with Clemson? Give me a break. Most if not all of us on this board were excited when HJ committed to UT. We gushed over his abilities and could not wait to have the number 1 QB. Now, in typical idiotic fashion, fans are talking like he is overrated and not worthy of his ranking. Good grief some of you need a clue. You can say you're glad the #1 QB committed elsehwere but you're fooling yourself. All HJ has done since committing to Clemson is get Rodgers and Higgins to commit with him and he is recruiting for them even more. Who do we have that is recruiting like crazy for us and bringing in serious talent? Here is a hint, nobody. Spin it how you want but losing HJ hurt.

BTW, if Lawrence is afraid of competition then I dont want him. I dont think he is personally and if we would have landed HJ, I dont think it would have affected his decision at all.
