'17 TN ATH Jacoby Stevens (LSU commit)

You called him Butch before. Now you hate him and call him Lyle...bro?

Anyone who calls Butch "Lyle" is showing a degree of immaturity and pettiness so great that anything they have to say loses all meaning.

Let them continue...it just makes it easier for us to know who to instantly and completely ignore.

While I sort of agree with you, I also get the inference of calling him Lyle instead of Butch. The name Butch conjures images of tough, no nonsense Marine drill sergeant types. The name Lyle conjures images of an effete Milquetoast type. They think Butch has no real fortitude, so they call him his given name Lyle. Is it petty and immature? Sure it is. But we all are at some point. Especially since we are on a fanatic Vol open message forum. It is basically a bunch of overgrown Boys and a few cool girls messing around. So in essence...Lighten up Francis.:) Other posters have had to tell me that a few times myself.

Why does this post sound real angsty and not really fit with the "lighten up Francis" byline? :cool2:

Jones thought he had a "players led" team but several players weren't on the "team" board, they were on the "me" board. He screwed up the season placing so much on these guys (captains) to keep the team together. They simply couldn't.

That and the injuries, some probably a direct result of the change in S&C programs, are the reason the season failed to live up to expectations IMO.

IF CBJ learned anything it is the head coach HAS to be the leader if you want to win championships. Its a shame he had to learn it this year at this level.

The leaders on this team led the season in the worst category possible--turnovers....

Loss to aTm = turnovers; loss to SCe = turnovers....

Vandy loss = critical turnover and lack of coaching....injuries probably had bigger impact in that game on DL than others, too.....

I'm not ignoring attitude and injuries--they did contribute...but everything being equal....turnovers destroyed this season...and that's just a lack of discipline by the players.

Vandy game destroyed the last tidbits of confidence I had in CBJ's ability to lead this team to the Playoffs....

Off the CBJ train and anything less than Atlanta for 2017 means he needs to go....thanks for getting us back into reasonable shape--but he ain't the guy who can get us SEC championship. :salute:

It comes off as a bunch of young boys demanding respect but not giving any themselves.

I don't count anyone out with Butch. See Smith, Kongbo, Richmond, Byrd, Malone and the many others. If Butch is trying, it's not over till Feb. no idea if Butch is still trying here tho

I actually find the use of "Lyle" sadly amusing in a way.
Kind of like being in a restaurant when a 7 year old kid is throwing a tantrum and refusing to eat what was ordered.
You're sitting there thinking, "that kid's a little to old to be acting like that, poor parents...but they are the ones that raised this child to be this way....amusing."

Serious question, and I'm not meaning to be a jerk, I just find different personalities fascinating...Do you not have much of a sense of humor unless it is highbrow? Be honest.

See, I have no problem with this "negative" post. Now if he copies and pastes it dozens of times in multiple threads, then it gets annoying. In fact, lots of "sunshine pumpers" likely feel the same.
Not trying to start something with Mike either, just think it is a good example.

I'm with you on the fascination with differing personality types, and I do appreciate yours. Followed you because of your avatar; O Brother is one of my all time favorites. Fargo is my favorite. I love the Coen Brothers; not sure if that defines my sense of humor.

And honestly, I don't find a lot of things funny that others seem to; I kind of regret that....unless the use of "Lyle" is intended to be funny, then no regrets.

Calling Butch "Lyle" is not meant to be funny. It's just a smartasstic slam on his seeming lack of fortitude. They are saying he is not man enough to be called a macho moniker such as "Butch". I have called Butch "fraud" when I have been upset with his looking around at other jobs postseason. It did smack of a lack of fortitude to look for an was way out at the time. That upset me and still does.

Oh and thanks for the honest response. I am kind of like the UEM character I think. I'm also sometimes a blowhard know it all, that is really just a befuddled redneck with a soft heart and good intentions. I confess though, sometimes I also slip into childish immaturity.

Responding to you, believe it or not, wasn't particularly important to me. I also don't wander into the thread of a kid who has zero chance of coming to Tennessee. Finally, what/who is BB?

And yet...here you are, wandering around in here. And BB is BreakerBoy.:)

We aren't really in on Jacoby's recruitment right?

Pretty sure that the staff has continued to try, but nothing has come of it. He said a little while back that he was "open" to listening to UT again, but it just never seemed like he cared much for UT before his recruitment even took off.

BFF's?
