Stevens is elite
First stop of the day was Oakland High school where I spent about twenty minutes with Jacoby Stevens. Had a chance to meet with his coach, Kevin Creasy, first, and he told me that Stevens will be waiting until the end of June/first of July to make any kind of commitment. He wants his star player focusing on spring ball and Oakland until their dead period. That being said, he did say the Stevens is quite a fan of the Bulldogs. Stevens confirmed that's his plan, and he's tentatively looking at July 19 (his birthday) for a possible commitment.
We talked about his top options, and, as Trent mentioned in the earlier post, he confirmed that Georgia is still on top for his services. Mel Tucker was by last week to check in on Stevens, and the two keep in contact on a daily basis, as Stevens noted they text all the time since the ban on communication has been lifted. The four-star athlete believes the new Georgia staff know how to build a winner. His family also likes the school, and his trainers at National Playmakers Academy have a close relationship with several people on the Bulldogs staff, primarily Sam Pittman and Jim Chaney.
LSU is in striking distance, while Tennessee finds themselves in third place at the moment. All of the mentioned schools will get visits, as will the likes of FSU and Florida prior to any decision making.
Really like Georgia's chances here for the time being.

Watch the CB's for LSU now start popping up. Plans to announce on his birthday - July 19.
If we get Gibbs then Stevens is an after thought. We need to get one or the other, at least.
Gibbs is a stud but Stevens is going to be one that will be missed, especially if he goes to UGA and we see him every year. He's an elite player that will likely be talked about on the level of Jalen Ramsey leading up to the NFL draft in a few years. I don't know about anyone else but I got tired of hearing about a TN kid who didn't play at UT. Can't win them all but Stevens is a future star.
Stevens is elite
Gibbs is as well. Reaslictly we aren't getting both. And Gibbs has a way higher probability of coming here anyways. So all I'm saying is, if we miss out on Stevens, oh well. We most likely got Gibbs at least.
And honestly, if I had to pick. I'm picking Gibbs. Sorry guys. Probably not the popular pick. I'm not an expert but I just have a better feeling he will be a better player when it's all said and done
Good point. Not every player in the state grew up 1) in the state or born in the state OR 2) is a Tennessee fan. All I'm saying is we have a deeper connection with Gibbs than Stevens and if we have to miss on Stevens but then get Gibbs then I can live with it. I think we can get both but we need a huge season and more time to do so.Well, the thing is, TN is finally having talent coming into the state. While that is a good thing for Tn, it also means most didn't grow up Tn fans or has family that are die hard Tn fans. Nashville is growing like Atl did. It's good to have some more talent in state but understand the loyalty to the home state isn't there. In years past, 5 elite guys was probably a stretch. Now, top 15-20 can play at any school. Get 2/3 of those and that is a great job and it's better than the talent just 10 years ago.
I like Gibbs more as well. I think he can play any secondary position but I think Stevens will be limited to safety. Hell, he may even grow out of that. I agree with you 100%. Also a nephew of a former vol is always great to have around.Gibbs is as well. Reaslictly we aren't getting both. And Gibbs has a way higher probability of coming here anyways. So all I'm saying is, if we miss out on Stevens, oh well. We most likely got Gibbs at least.

Stevens looks elite on tape and he's doing it against great competition.
We only have space for one elite athlete apparently.
There were a couple of posts on the previous page where folks were debating who was the better prospect. If your comment about the level of competition that Jacoby played against wasn't part of that argument, then I apologize. I do think Stevens is an elite prospect and certainly hope we get him.
