'17 TN DL Rutger Reitmaier (Oregon commit)

Jones is from Cali. Before I left for my freshman year at UT, my Dad told me that almost everyone gets homesick at some point after leaving home. You just go from being with family to being on your own, no matter how far you go. He said it's natural, and you deal with it. Most people eventually become comfortable with their surroundings.

In my day, there was very little traveling, staying away from home for weeks at a time, etc. Kids were always getting homesick and quitting. Kids today travel all the time, are gone to camps, tournaments, etc for weeks at a time. They rarely think the least bit about homesickness but if they do, they usually get over it. This kid did choose a completely different area of the country, culture, etc of what he was familiar with. I can understand.

You guys don't want this kid because he got homesick about as far away in the USA from home as he could possibly go and then changed his mind? Dang, the kid is 17. We loved it when Jones came back from colorado tho, right? 🤔

...and where is Jones now?

The guy is good enough and tough enough to be a heavily recruited D1 defensive lineman and guys who weren't even tough enough to play for their high school team are on here calling him soft.

Context is that you want everyone else to move on and not come back at you, but you are still allowed to make snarky comments

Nope. Hopefully you aren't a teacher of any kind, because context isn't your strength.

The context of the statement in question, was the comparison of Vn's reaction to the Jones situation vs Rutger's situation. That is what I was ready to move on from. That is the context sir.

It was a bad comparison.

I get why it's concerning, but we don't even know the story. Maybe he doesn't like the coaching staff? Maybe something happened out there to make him believe he's made a bad decision. Who knows. Maybe someone in his family is sick and he wants to be close to them. Could be any number of things
Hoke probably knows the story here. If he wants the kid I'm all for it. That said I think we're pretty loaded as far as Dlinemen so I wonder if this guy is an upgrade to the talent we're already in on?

And if he chooses the Vols everyone will be in here booming. Typical VN. Let's get the narrative out that he's soft in case he chooses Vandy, but if he chooses the Vols, well, he realized he made a mistake in not choosing the Vols in the first place!

Is that wrong?

Asking for a friend who posts on VN.
