Besides your different formats of posting, and your slightly better spelling,
You and De1 are basically the same. De1 is finkle, finkle is De1. Little Vol is a man!!!
Really though, why y'all so cocky on a message board?
Would love to see some senior film on this kid. I can see where the staff might see a DE in college. Looks like his lateral quickness might be in question. Would love to hear from De1 to see if that has improved.
Don't get me wrong I like the kids ability and feel he is a Power 5 player but he will need to improve speed for sure.
He definitely will not be a DE candidate on the next level. Jacob will be a MLB all the way. The problem he used to have was his tight hips. We have worked on some things yoga, intense speed training, etc and it has helped him tremendously. It has all showed up starting with the Rivals 5* challenge, The Open and now on Friday nights. As of wk 2 he was 1 of the top leading tacklers in the state.
Jacob Phillips - Hudl
Every other school seems to get by with slow playing, and then landing the guy in the end. He was big on UT before. If his heart was really set on it, and the coaches pursue him with "we were idiots, and you really do fit in here." maybe we can land him.
Nah, we do not have that kind of luck with in-state products. If we slow play them at all, which includes waiting to offer them a scholarship 18 months from there signing day, then they feel spurned and give us no chance. For some weird reason, we seem like one of the only schools that this type of thing is just the Wray it is.
Saving that cup just for you next time we meet up.
Does UT still have a shot with him?
Contact between the 6-foot-3.5, 228-pound Phillips and Tennessee had been minimal over the past year before Vols linebackers coach Tommy Thigpen contacted his coach this week to invite Phillips to Tennessees showdown with the Gators. Phillips admitted that was in part because he had just lost interest in going to Tennessee.
He said hes primarily just hoping itll be a fun trip, and with Phillips currently planning to decide on a college by mid-October, he said hes not sure whether the Vols might have a chance of becoming a contender. For now, he said hes simply approaching Saturdays trip as a chance to take a fun trip and see a good game.
They invited me down, so Im just going to go up there and check it out, said Phillips, whos ranked the nations No. 193 overall prospect and No. 7 inside linebacker in the 247Sports Composite for the 2017 class. Itll be a good game, and itll be fun to check it out.
Phillips said its probably a little bit too early to suggest Tennessee could be a potential destination for his final official visit. To be honest, after I stopped talking to them, I havent really followed them, he said of the Vols. Obviously, I know theyve won all three of their games (this season). But, other than that, I dont really know too many things about them. I know some of the commits because I train with them.
Tennessee commitments Maleik Gray, Princeton Fant and LaTrell Bumphus all have talked with Phillips, and he said at least one or two of them have tried to convince him to take another look at the Vols. In the past, he said, he has told them I wasnt going, but he changed his mind this week. He said he briefly planned to ride to Knoxville on Saturday with Gray before deciding to travel with wide receiver Jarek Campbell and four-star defensive tackle D'Andre Litaker, two of Tennessees Nashville-area targets in the 2018 class.

Full article makes it sound like UT has a lot of work to do. However, he did say he was looking forwards to the game. Plus, getting him back on campus after so long and after he has refused several offers to visit is definitely a good thing.
