I think Stoops makes a move this year. I really think he needs a change in scenery. wouldn't be surprised if this recruitment opens back up down the road. Is he an EE?
D1, u think he'll give us a hard look if the staff at Oklahoma breaks up?
You think Stoops leaves? To where, the NFL? Have you seen that man's everlovin' house? I seriously doubt he gives up what he's built at OU for a "change of scenery".
He's been so enamored with Ok since he 1st went out there i was amazed. Its possible Stoops leaves because tbat rumor has swirled the air for a few years. I'm not sure Jacob is there for Stoops and only Stoops but i will ask him Sunday at Father Ryan as we work out. I'll just say this he was really feeling slighted by some of the guys UT took and slow played him.
I think we are all scratching our heads on what the coaches are doing with the LBer position. It always amazes me though that if other schools get in late on a highly touted recruit the recruit claims it was their dream school and abruptly commit to that school. We don't seem to have that ability here.

I think it's clear that our staff has recruited lighter, faster guys to play LB. McDowell is an example. They would rather bulk them up. It appears that their early evaluation of Phillips was that he wasn't a great fit. Even de1 has said he has greatly improved his hips. Just the way it goes.

Neither Sapp nor Bituli are small LBs. Kirkland is not a small LB. I don't think we are recruiting "lighter" guys at LB. I think people are getting caught up with who we currently have on the roster.
McDowell wasn't going to see significant PT at S. Same goes for Elliott Berry (who played well IMO on Saturday). JRM is a freak and a once in a decade type talent. He just happens to be on the smaller side, but it doesn't hinder him due to his athleticism and crazy ability to read the game.
We just need to step up our LB recruiting in general. I'm wondering when people are going to start getting on Thigpen's case like they have Azzanni.

Why move Austin Smith? Kid is athletic as all get out.
Thigpen hasn't done a great job at all. IMO
He didn't move him. Shoop did.
He was a starter for him last year at one point. No way Tommy moves him
How much would of Bituli and Smith helped us saturday?
Instead we trot out a defense geared to stop the pass against a run heavy team...result...400 yards rushing...
Shoop is doing some weird stuff right now.
Rivals listed Sapp at 197. 247 had him heavier. But Phillips is reportedly close to 240. Kirkland was close to his size, but I am guessing Kirkland moved better than Phillips, when our staff was evaluating him. De1 has said that Phillips has really improved his hips and lateral movement. I am guessing our staff didn't think he could improve that much. I am just thinking out loud to determine why they didn't continue pursuing him.
